On Dec. 11 the members and
guests of Cranbrook Women's
Missionary Society attended a
bountiful potluck dinner at the
home of Mrs. Stuart Stevenson.
The meal was enhanced by the
beautiful Christmas decorations in
the Stevenson's rec room.
Mrs. Brenda Perrie led devotions.
Her first offering was an article
"Put Peace and Joy in your
Christmas". In society people see
and read about crime, abuse,
unemployment and drugs which
cause so much stress everywhere.
As a result they lose sight of peace
and joy so we must search in hearts
and minds to find these gifts. The
trick is to be sure to look in the
right place.
Scripture was read from Luke 2
vs. 1-25.
"ABC of Troubled Times" was
an insight in the story of modem
man who must learn to give from
the heart to find the joy of living.
"Mangers and Memories" was
the next story of today's father who
longs to find a replica of the real
manger scene. Favourite carols
were sung interspersed throughout
the topic.
Minutes of the previous meeting
were read and approved. The
treasurer's report was given by Mrs.
Jack Knight, who reported that the
Society shall reach its allocation for
1997.
There were 10 visits reported to
shut-ins. Roll call was a Christmas
thought or memory.
Rev. Lynn Nichol asked the
members for a special donation to
be brought to the Christmas Eve
service at the church at 7 p.m. They
are to bring good used clothing or
personal items. These are to be
taken to Evangel Hall in Toronto
for distribution.
Mrs. Stevenson announced the
annual meeting of Knox
Presbyterian Church will be held
on Jan. 29 at the church.
