Bulls split weekend action
Battle for the ball
It was broomball throughout the weekend at BMG arena, Brussels, as men's and women's
teams competed in a tournament. Here, a Clinton player battles his opponent for the ball
which is wedged in the back of the net. Clinton took a 1 -0 victory.
Friday night the Bulls made their
last trip to Wiarton and came home
with a win. This win extended their
winning streak to two games after a
win at home against Mount Forest
on Dec. 7.
Grant Jarvis opened the scoring
against Wiarton when he unleashed
his howitzer and scored in the top
corner assisted by Gary Staples.
Wiarton scored on the powerplay to
tie the game at one and scored
twice in the second period to take a
3-1 lead into the third period.
Nine seconds into the third
period Craig Morrissey scored his
first of three assisted by Curtis
Nichol. Steve Henderson scored to
tie the game at three, assisted by
Mark Durand and Morrissey but
Wiarton scored 45 seconds later to
take the lead.
With 3:54 remaining Morrisey
scored to tie the game assisted by
Henderson and Brett Fischer. Then
with six seconds on the clock '
Morrisey scored the winning goal,
assisted by Henderson and Staples.
This game was a must win for the
Bulls as the Wiarton Wolves are
closing the gap to try and take sixth
place from the Bulls.
On Sunday the Bulls travelled to
Walkerton to take on the
Blackhawks.
The Bulls scored first when
Darryl DeRuyter scored from
Fischer and Josh Cressman.
Walkerton tied the score then the

Bulls took the lead on a goal by
Durand assisted by Jarvis and
Staples. Walkerton once again tied
the game and once again the Bulls
came back to take the lead when
Morrisey scored assisted by Durand
and Cressman.
Walkerton then scored two short-
handed goals jumping ahead by
one. Another shot put them up by
two to make the score 6-4 before
Staples scored on the power play
assisted by Cressman and Jarvis.
That was all the offense the Bulls
could muster and the Blackhawks
got a 6-5 win.
With a new man behind the
bench for the Brussels Bulls, the
Junior C team earned one win and
took two losses in weekend play,
Dec. 5-7.
Rob Burr of Ayr, assumed the
role of head coach recently, after
Ron Livermore was relieved of his
duties.
Burr, who has coached the Kitch
ener Midget Greenshirts and the
Wesley Junior D Applejack, was a
former assistant coach with the
University of Waterloo Warriors.
In weekend play, the Bulls were
outscored 5-3 by Mount Forest on
Friday and 8-3 by Kincardine on
Saturday.
However, things appeared to fall
into place by Sunday when they
welcomed the Mt. Forest Patriots to
town.
Down 2-1 after the opening
frame, Brussels recovered for a 4-2
lead going into the final period
when two more were added to the
tally for a 6-2 win.
Darin Alviano led the Brussels
attack with two goals. Other netters
were popped by Rob Knechtel,
Josh Cressman, Curtis Nichol and
Brett Fischer, whose goal slid into
an empty net on a shorthanded
play.
Earning points in the earlier
games were Jeff Sauve, Mark
Durand and Dan Sinclair in the
