Brussels People Jocus Toy Shop zz What fun Ashley, left and Holly Sholdice, daughters of Don and Jill, got into the spirit of fun at the first Brussels Business Group's pageant and fashion show last Thursday night. The winners of this holiday sea­ son's best decorated Brussels home are John and Bonnie Pennington, Albert Street. Carrying over the summer's Homecoming, the house and arbour are adorned in a festive red and white theme. By adding traditional elegance to their spacious front porch, Wayne and Mary Jean Bell of Albert Street get honourable mention as does Jean Bewley, John Street, for her delightful use of colour. The Brussels 5Rs Thrift Shop used a lot of ingenuity in creating their quaint store front, earning them this year's best decorated business award. Santa Claus was a huge favourite with everybody and he handed out 350 candy bags to the children who visited him at the Ark after the parade. The Winners for the best float were: The Cardiff Family 4-H Club of Ethel Optimist Seaforth Hospital Melville Presbyterian Sunday School McGavin's Farm Equipment Lady with black dog Variety. Many thanks to the firemen Best Overall Float Sports Club Service Club Body & Soul Children's Float Lodge members reveal sisters A potluck supper preceded the regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge #315 on Tuesday, Dec. 9 Noble Grand Sister Lorraine Edwards presided at this Christmas meeting. The names of Friendship Sisters were revealed for 1997 and gifts exchanged. Sister Laura Barbour read a Christmas poem. Sister Karen Wlhas Christmas potluck Cardiff favoured all with a piano solo Star of the East. Sister Karen and Sister Joyce Jacklin then sang a duet Oh Holy Night. Santa arrived promptly at 9 p.m. and delivered gifts to everyone. A delicious lunch of Christmas desserts was served by the lunch committee. Best wishes to all for a happy Christmas and for the New Year. Commercial Hoat Animal Entry Winners may pick up their prize at Brussels who bagged the candy. The Brussels Lions Club for their donation & sponsorship, the Brussels legion, Village of Brussels, Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Township of Grey, Western Star Lodge, Township of Morris & St. Johns Lodge for their donations. The Brussels Optimist Club for sponsoring the Seaforth Girts Band. The staff at the bank for setting up the parade, Todd's Bakery for gratitudes, Doug & Corrie Sholdice, Karen Darling & Chris Ten Pas, Village of Brussels Staff, The Ark & staff and Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus. Special thanks to all those who participated In the parade. The Majestic Women's Institute began its Dec. 10 meeting with a delicious potluck dinner. First Vice-President Peggy Keffer opened the meeting with a poem "Tis the Season". Kathy Bridge read the minutes of the November meeting. Jean Bell gave the treasurer's report. A motion was made to pay the bills. Correspondence was read and new business dealt with. Roll call was "The furthest place you send a Christmas card." This was answered by all with answers ranging from Scotland to New Zealand. Jean Fraser then took over the meeting with several readings and 50 excellent Christmas riddles.
