HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1997-12-10, Page 25Couple weds at river’s edge Lorelei and Mark Coultes COULTES-VANBEEK The beautiful summer wedding of Mark Gordon Coultes and Lorelei Anne Vanbeek took place along the banks of the Mailland River at the farm of Les and Bon­ nie Brewer. Chris Morgan officiated at the July 5 ceremony. Mark is the son of Glenn and Dorothy Coultes of RR5, Brussels. Attending the bride were her maid of honour, Pam McLean and flower girl, Alixandria Sholdice, both of Brussels. Jake Vanbeek of Brussels, was the ringbearer with Jeff Olson of Wingham, serving as best man and Tom Cull, Belgrave, Dave McKee, Belgrave, and Fred Veldhuyzen, London, as ushers. A bam dance was held at Doug and Corrie Sholdice's. The newlyweds honeymooned at the Millcraft Inn in Caledon before returning to Brussels. Nicole and Steven Coultes as Bly th UCW president Emily Phillips opened the Blyth UCW meeting on Dec. 2 with a Christmas poem and a welcome to 19 ladies. Joan Clark and Kate Huntley were in charge of the worship for this special meeting. Kate showed slides of the country where Jesus was bom, Mrs. Clark read scripture from Luke pertinent to the slides. Christmas carols were sung. Joan read a poem about the spirit of Christmas. Kate closed the worship with prayer. Mrs. Phillips conducted a short business meeting. The UCW purpose was repeated in unison. Catherine Caldwell read the minutes of the November meeting. Lenora Davidson gave the card report. Joann McDonald gave the treasurer's report and Mrs. Phillips read the budget for the coming year. At this time she thanked everyone for their co-operation over the two years of her presidency and asked for prayers and support for the incoming executive. With the theme "Women", the president then took members on a journey through the life of Mary, with Mary reminiscing about her life and that of her son, Jesus. This presentation closed with the recorded Song of Mary. Candace How son presented the outgoing president with flowers and thanked her on half of the UCW for two years of superb leadership. The members then sat down to a delicious buffet lunch which was served by Edelgard Hoba, Kate Huntley and Joann McDonald. The next meeting will be Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. Former area man weds in Australian ceremony COULTES-MACGILL Scot's Church in Melbourne, Australia, was the lovely setting for the wedding of Steven Taylor Coultes and Nicole Louise MacGill. Rev. J.W. Pilgrim officiated at the Nov. 7 nuptials. The groom is the son of Glenn and Dorothy Coultes of RR5, Brus­ sels and the bride is the daughter of Margaret and Graeme MacGill of Melbourne, Australia. Robyn MacGill of Melbourne served as maid of honour while Gerard Bretherlon, also of Mel­ bourne. stood as best man. The bride's attendants were Lisa MacGill of Cairns, Australia and Tracey Whitehead of Melbourne. Ushers were Mark Coultes of Brussels and Tom McDonald of Teeswater. A reception was held in South Yarra, Australia. The couple honeymooned in Thailand before returning to their home at 1 Hopkins Street, South Geelong, Victoria, Australia, 3220.
