The Blyth Midget Bulldogs
added two more wins in WOAA
league hockey last week as they
continued their stellar play. The
Bulldogs beat Ripley 4-1 in Blyth
on Dec. 1, then travelled to
Mildmay on Dec. 3 where they
continued their winning ways, this
time by a 7-5 margin.
Against Ripley the visitors held a
1-0 first-period lead, before Blyth
responded with three unanswered
second-period tallies to take
control. Jeff Cowan scored the
Bulldogs' first two goals with
assists being earned by Corey
Bragg, Mike Courtney and Bantam
call-ups Tyler Stewart and Craig
Marks. Mike Haggitt added some
insurance as he gave Blyth a 3-1
lead with an unassisted marker.
Cowan completed his hat-trick late
in the game with a picture-perfect
goal on a Blyth powerplay, as the
Bulldogs earned this hard fought 4-
1 win.
In Mildmay the Bulldogs had
four Bantams in their lineup who
all made a solid contribution in the
7-5 win. Dean Wilson had a steady
game between the pipes as Scott
Bromley was finally given a night
off. Tyler Stewart and Craig Marks
contributed defensively on the
blueline with Marks picking up an
assist. Dave Ansley also earned an
assist and used his size by playing a
physical game.
