Madill was the only team to go undefeated in pool play on Friday. They defeated St. Ignatius (Thun­ der Bay) 15-3 and 15-5, Essex 15-9 and 15-12 and Port Perry 15-6 and 15-10. In the first game of the Saturday quarter-finals against Carleton Place they continued their winning ways with two 15-7 victories. Coach Audrey Bos said the first game was close until 7-7, then Madill pulled away. "Adam Carr had many great blocks to lead the team. Laurin Hoegy saw her first action between the pipes doing an outstanding job and earning herself a shutout. Belgrave’s first goal came at 5:19 of the opening period. Michelle Cook won the faceoff and drew the puck back to Rachel Elliott who wristed a beauty past a surprised Kincardine netminder. Cook scored the second goal at the 2:58 mark on a pass by Camerra Yuill. Elliott added another with 45 seconds to go in the first once again on the faceoff, this time won by Nicole Proctor. Kristen Palmer rounded out the scoring in the first on a nice shot, assisted by Proctor at the 16-second mark. The Blyth Midget Bulldogs added two more wins in WOAA league hockey last week as they continued their stellar play. The Bulldogs beat Ripley 4-1 in Blyth on Dec. 1, then travelled to Mildmay on Dec. 3 where they continued their winning ways, this time by a 7-5 margin. Against Ripley the visitors held a 1-0 first-period lead, before Blyth responded with three unanswered second-period tallies to take control. Jeff Cowan scored the Bulldogs' first two goals with assists being earned by Corey Bragg, Mike Courtney and Bantam call-ups Tyler Stewart and Craig Marks. Mike Haggitt added some insurance as he gave Blyth a 3-1 lead with an unassisted marker. Cowan completed his hat-trick late in the game with a picture-perfect goal on a Blyth powerplay, as the Bulldogs earned this hard fought 4- 1 win. In Mildmay the Bulldogs had four Bantams in their lineup who all made a solid contribution in the 7-5 win. Dean Wilson had a steady game between the pipes as Scott Bromley was finally given a night off. Tyler Stewart and Craig Marks contributed defensively on the blueline with Marks picking up an assist. Dave Ansley also earned an assist and used his size by playing a physical game. Courtney, Cowan and Corey Campbell completed the scoring with Courtney earning a pair of assists and Campbell, Kyle Anderson, Jamie Black and Steve Oldfield earning single helpers. Although team defence collapsed late in the third period, the Bulldogs played well enough to escape with a 7-5 victory.
