Jesus is talking about the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. He describes the signs and wonders which will announce his second coming. "Ever since these words appeared in Luke we have been struggling to read the signs and interpreting the wonders to see if this is when Jesus is coming back," said Rev. Murray. What makes it more confusing is that Luke wrote his gospel 60 years after the death of Jesus which was some 20 years after Jerusalem had fallen. Yet Jesus did not come again again when Jerusalem fell. "Have we misread the signs?" Rev. Murray asked. "Maybe we have been looking for the signs in all the wrong places. Murray said he believes Jesus will not be Rambo on his return. He will be the same tomorrow as he was yesterday, simple, caring and honest. "He will lead us by the power of persuasion, and not by force. Healing and helping the lost will still be his greatest priorities." Rev. Murray said he believes, too, that the best way for Christ to return is through people. "We have said that we are the church and that we are 'the body of Christ'. The church and its people arc the risen Christ in this world. We are guided by his spirit. We are his hands, doing his work. We are the sign of Christ's continued presence in this world. This is why we wear an empty cross. He is alive. Christ is alive in you and in me," said Rev. Murray. GOODS SERVICES TRADES ^Stratford Cemetery^ Memorials Ltd.
