At Knox United Church on
Sunday, Nov. 30, the First Sunday
of Advent and "White Gift
Sunday", greeting worshippers
were Isabel and Becky Logan.
Sherri Sippel and Amy Barnes
looked after the nursery.
Rev. Mary-Jane Hobden
welcomed everyone. This was
followed by O Perfect Love and
Jesus Is All the World to Me.
Call to worship was read
responsively with Chris Cottrill
being the leader, followed by the
Prayer of Approach in unison with
Jeremy Robinson as leader.
The hymn of praise was O Come,
O Come Emmanuel followed by the
lighting of the advent candle with
the McArter family taking part.
The congregation sang Hope is a
Star followed by Prayer of
Confession and Assurance of
Pardon read responsively with
Shawn Cottrill being the leader.
The mixed junior choir delighted
the congregation with Making
Rainbows and I've Got the Joy of
Jesus Down In My Heart.
The Old Testament reading was
taken from Jeremiah 33: 14-16 and
the gospel reading from Luke 21:
25-36. The hymn Jesus Came a
Child Like Me was followed by
Julie Van Camp reading a story,
"How White Gift Sunday Began".
The Sunday school children took
part in a White gift drama entitled
"The Shepherd's Child" followed
by the singing of Away In A
Manger.
Paul Walker and Shawn Cottrill
took collection, while Nicole
Walker and Bridget Kellington
collected the white gifts.
Stephen; Alison Wightman and
Autumn; Shellie Voisin, Devon and
Mitchell; Linda Hess and Judith.
Shellie Voisin had a display of
"Jocus" toys and catalogues from
which the mothers might choose to
buy.
Joanne Robinson and Cathy
Walker took part in the "Mission
and Service Dialogue". Prayers of
Intercession and Thanksgiving
were read from the bulletin
responsively.
The closing hymn was Come
Thou Long Expected Jesus. The
Sending Forth, Commissioning and
three fold Amen, "Go Now In
Peace" concluded the morning
worship service.
An Advent celebration with
lunch followed the service. The
Sunday School provided soup.
On Friday, Dec. 12 Knox Sunday
School Christmas concert will be
held in the Women's Institute Hall
at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who would
like to add their talents to the
program contact Mary Jane (357-
4561) or Kim McArter (887-6027).
A reminder was given that all are
invited to bring donations to the
concert for the Christmas Bureau.

Sunday with their uncle and aunt,
Lewis and Helen Stonehouse. They
also visited with Gamer and Alice
