Edgar wins euchre There were seven tables of euchre in play on Wednesday, Nov. 26 in the Women's Institute Hall. Winners were: high lady, Eleanor Newans; second high lady, Edith Coulter; lone hands, Lois Chamney; low lady, Winnie Boyd; high man, Harvey Edgar; second high man, Lloyd Appleby; lone hands, John Newans; low man, Gordon Bosman. There will be no cards on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The next card party will be on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The seniors bowling scores for Wednesday, Nov. 26 were: Evelyn Caslick, 118, 124; Jean Walker, 123, 143; Doris Remington, 139, 115; Marj Coultes, 112, 105; Evelyn Gailbraith, 186, 124; Eleanor Neill, 87, 106; Helen Underwood, 85, 74; Largaret Mclnnes, 141, 119; Doris Michie, 97, 142; Al Meyers, 120, 146, 176; Raymond Neill, 108, 182, 175; Bob Carbert, 127, 190, 168. There were eight tables of shoot in play on Friday, Nov. 28 at the Belgrave Community Centre. Winners were: high lady, Irlma Edgar; second high lady, Jane Grasby; most shoots, Aileen Leddy; low lady, Barbara Ander­ son; high man, Gamer Nicholson; second high man, George Inglis; most shoots, Richard Moore; low man, Lome Campbell. The next shoot will be on Friday, Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Parish enjoys “Songs of Faith” A capacity crowd enjoyed "Songs of Our Faith" at Knox United Church, Belgrave on Friday evening, Nov. 28. John McIntosh welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. Everyone was thanked for participating and a special thank you was said to the accompanists, Elizabeth Procter and Jessie McGee. John McIntosh sang a solo I Asked the Lord, followed by his son, Chris, and himself singing a duet Because He Lives. Rev. Mary Jane Hobden sang a solo Come to the Water. Men of Note a quartet from Dundalk sang a few numbers with Ainsey Jack being the lead; tenor Ken Hopper; baritone Bob Scott; and bass Grant Preston; friends of John McIntosh. The Sonshine Singers delighted the crowd with A-B-C-D-E-F-G and Kids Under Construction, followed by Lila, Andrew and Ben Procter singing Self Control and Faith. An instrumental group, consisting of Mary Coultes at piano, Alex Robertson on banjo; Arnold Bruce on violin and Ron McBurney on mandolin played several numbers, In the Sweet Bye and Bye, When the Roll is Called up Yonder, Il is No Secret, Shall We Gather at the River, and Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. The audience sang Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah. Silence consisting of Melina, Manny, Micah, Mark and Matthew Hussey performed, followed by Janet Koehler and Chris McIntosh F E S T I V A L As winter sets in, we're all fired up with our plans for next summer. Margaret Siertsema read scripture from Matthew 2. Ivy Cloakey led in prayer. Margaret gave the secretary's report. Ivy gave the treasurer's report. Roll call was answered by a poem or story on Christmas. Hazel Dalrymple read "If God went on Strike". Thirty-four sick and shut-in visits were recorded. O Come All Ye Faithful was read. Margaret read "Christmas at the Mall". Rev. Cathrine Campbell closed with prayer. The women were reminded to contribute to the Christmas Bureau Dec. 8-11. The hostess served lunch.
