Madill team
WOSSA
winners
Three Brussels boys, Nathan
Garland, Andrew Exel and Adam
Carr, are members of the F.E.
Madill Secondary School senior
boys volleyball team who captured
the WOSSA championship, Friday.
However, a bigger thrill for the
entire school, was the fact that this
is the first time in Madill history
that the senior boys volleyball team
has advanced to OFSSA.
Though the squad started out
slowly on their home turf in Wing
ham, the team woke up, with some
encouragement, said Coach Audrey
Bos.
Madill went up against Ingersoll
in the first match, losing 14-16 and
9-15.
After a 5-15 defeat at the hands
of Arthur-Voaden, St. Thomas, in
the first game of the second round,
the team hit the floor for a 15-3 vic
tory, to begin the turnaround
Madill went undefeated in the
rest of their round-robin games,
beating St. Michael's, Stratford, 15-
6 and 15-10; Stratford Central, 15-1
and 15-0 and Medway, 15-3 and
15-1.
The improved play put them sec
ond in their pool, bringing them up
against Stratford Central in the

The Kitchener goalie and defense managed to keep the
Chesley player from making his shot this time, but not
often enough as his opponents went on to win this
contest. The teams were paired Saturday afternoon in the
B Division of the 24th annual Brussels Optimist
tournament this past weekend. The A championship was
won by Mitchell, which defeated North London 3-1. Mount
Forest defeated St. Marys 5-1 for the B title. Played over
two weekends, the tournament had 32 teams in two
