Club hears reading
Ila Cunningham had her home
beautifully decorated for the
Christmas gathering of the
Walkerbum Club on Nov. 24 at 2
p.m.
A reading 'Keeping Christmas'
which was about always
remembering and helping others,
was read by Ethel Ball to open the
meeting. This was followed by
prayer.
Vera Penfound then read "Peace
and Joy in Christmas", an article by
Gisele Ireland. This was a thought
provoking and very amusing
reading.
Minutes were read and treasurer's
report given, a thank you letter was
read from Alzheimer's telling that
$115 was made in the sale of a quilt
donated by the Club. Roll call was
answered with a gift for the
Children's Aid.
Vera Penfound invited the Club
to her home for the January
meeting. She will be in charge of
the lunch. Program convenor is
Betsey Verwey.

The opening chorus O Come, O
Come, Emanuel was sung at Knox

Paul Ross then led in prayer of

Mrs. Laura Mae Chamney, sang a
very appropriate hymn for the
service. The baptismal service then
took place of Madison Alexis
Chamney-Lumley infant daughteer
of Bob Lumley and Alison
Chamney.
-The children then went to their
classes and the hymn It Came Upon
a Midnight Clear was sung.
Rev. Ross read from Jeremiah

Collection was taken by Bernice
Norman. Kay Lapp won the draw,
donated by Ethel Ball.
Ethel then displayed several quilt
tops and material donated to the
Club by Glenyce McNaughton,
Londesboro. She offered to buy
two of them and the Club will try
to finish the others this winter.
It was then decided to give gifts
to patients at Restview Nursing
Home, Clinton. Members will
'adopt' these patients who have few
relatives.
Christmas .cards were signed for
several former members and
friends.
A cookie exchange, in charge of
Betty Archambault, followed. With
an excellent auctioneer, Betsey
Verwey, a miscellaneous sale was
quite successful.
The club then gathered around
the table. Grace was sung and a
large plate of delicious fruit, breads
and cheese was enjoyed. This was
served by the hostess, Ila
Cunningham.
the Lord would give them
righteousness.
The New Testament reading was -
from Luke 21. It speaks of man
being fearful of the outcome of the
earth and stated that they should
remember that God's words will
always be fulfilled.
The hymn Great is Thy
Faithfulness was sung.
Rev. Ross' sermon was "Still
Waiting, Still Hoping". He began
by speaking of the Israelites who
had David as their king and a
promise that they would always
have a king. However after about
500 years, things changed. They
lost their sovereignty and are still
waiting and hoping.
However, Rev. Ross said, Christ
came and died for people and this
world must act in faith and trust for
the future. Wars, poverty, famine
will cease and peace shall come to
all. Righteousness shall reign.
Rev. Ross closed the message

Rev. Ross told about his first

busy but for his wife it was very
hard, being away from home and
close-knit family ties.
Several Dutch members also
spoke of experiences on their
arrival in this land after World War
II. It was a changed world for them,
too. However, as the Psalm says -
life is not always smooth, but with
God's help out of darkness,
happiness and peace will come.
The meeting closed with prayer
by Rev. Ross. The Lord's Prayer
