For a couple from London, run
ning a small business in the country
was just what they were looking
for.
They discovered it in the Hill
crest Restaurant and Gas Bar in
Londesboro, on Hwy 4.
Denis Bernard and Sandi Walker
took over the business on Nov. 1
after searching several areas across
southwestern Ontario for the right
operation.
"My thinking had always been to
get into business," said Bernard.
"We were looking for the country
life in a country atmosphere."
When they saw the establishment
advertised in a local real estate
paper, "It looked good," said Walk
er. "It could make a living for both
of us and had living quarters
included."
Now settled in their new busi-

treasurer's report was given by
Leona Armstrong.
The president had the meditation.
Her theme was "Faith". The hymn
Faith of Our Fathers was sung.
After roll call, it was decided to
assist in the cost of sending the
"Shoe Box Collection". This is to
participate in a missionary project
for children.
The members were in favour of
studying the book "Nutrition and
Missions" in 1998.
Rev. Cathrine Campbell gave a
reading about the McKays,
originally from Zorra, Ont., who
went to Taiwan.
The hymn O God of Love, O
King of Peace was sung, followed
by the Mizpah Benediction.
The hostess served a delicious
lunch and a social time was
enjoyed.
ness, the couple said there will be
some changes, though the basic
menu will remain the same.
Previously open just for breakfast
and lunch, Bernard and Walker will
extend the hours to offer an
evening meal, with a dinner spe
cial, as well as providing an eating
establishment in the village on Sun
day.
Sandi, the cook, will serve such
evening specials as cabbage rolls,
New owners
Sandi Walker and Denis Bernard, who recently purchased
Hillcrest Restaurant and Gas Bar in Londesboro, will
extend the hours of service.

lasagna, sitiffed peppers and French

Both Bernard and Walker have
been involved in similar businesses
for years and said this is a good
location.
"It is a good place for snowmo-
bilers to stop in; someplace they
can get a meal," said Walker.
Seating 34 and providing ample
parking, Walker encourages the
winter sport enthusiasts to drop by.
While making changes to the
running of Hillcrest, regulars to the
eatery will see familiar faces as the
wait staff will remain the same.
"We appreciate the continued
support of past clientele," said
Bernard, "and we hope they contin
ue to do business here."

Restaurant will be: Monday to Sat
