12 attend Blyth UCW potluck meeting
Twelve women from the Blyth
UCW sat down to a delicious
potluck dinner at noon Nov. 17.
After lunch Emily Phillips spoke
on the life of John McCrae, a native
of Guelph. This topic was of
particular interest this year with his
war medals being donated to the
Canadian War Museum.
Hymns were sung and scripture
read relevant to Armistice Day.
Susan Howson accompanied the
singing at the piano. This part of
the meeting closed with the reading
in unison of In Flanders Field, a
poem written by John McCrae.
Catherine Caldwell read the
minutes of the last meeting and
Lenora Davidson gave the card
report.
The slate of officers for the next
two years was announced. The
president's chair will be shared by
three women, Candace Howson,
Shirley Rutledge and Bonnie
Shannon.
The budget for 1998 was
discussed.
The next meeting will be held on
Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.
