Bulldogs score big
The Blyth Midget Bulldogs
scored big when they travelled to
Teeswater, Nov. 10.
Blyth dominated their hosts from
the opening face-off, passing their
way to a 5-1, second-period lead
before doubling the score in the
third, and coasting to a 10-2 tri
umph.
Special teams led the way as the
Bulldogs notched three power play
goals as well as a shorthanded tally
on their way to victory.
Cory Campbell, Jeff Cowan,
Mike Haggitt and Mike Ansley led
the attack with two goals each.
Single markers went to Kyle
Anderson and Jamie Black. Ander
son, Haggitt and Darrell Gerritts

In a very even first period Lee
Dilworth opened the scoring at the
12:28 mark on a pass from Tyler
Campbell and Kyle Stephenson.
The home team scored four-
second period goals. Campbell
scored on a nice pass from Darryl
Houston and Dilworth. Houston
and Campbell scored unassisted
goals then Dilworth scored with
4:30 left in the second on a pass
from Stephenson and Campbell.
In the third Darryl McClure got
on the scoreboard with assists
going to Adam Hall and Devin
Blake. Bryce Wedow turned aside
19 shots for his first shutout of the
year.
Wednesday the boys travelled to
Blyth for a good back and forth
game. Brussels scored at the 14:05
mark as Campbell scored on a pass
from Sean Hoegy. Three minutes
later Houston bulged the twine on a
nice pass from Jimmy Franken.
Brussels scored with 1:57 left in
the second as Hall scored on a pass
from Scott McDonald and Mark
Hunter. Blyth scored quickly with
1:18 left in the second.
This seemed to fire up the home
team as they scored with 5:59 left
in the third. But McClure scored an
empty-net goal, with 19 seconds
left.
Friday Monkton visited the
Brussels team and outshot Brussels
Brussels Novices
down Blyth 10-1
The Brussels Novices stormed
into Blyth Nov. 1, and blew away
their hosts by a score of 10-1.
The Blyth squad worked hard,
but only Josh Albrechtas, assisted
by Kendall Whitfield, was able to
sneak one by the visiting netmin-
der.
Joel Salverda gave a valiant
effort between the pipes for Blyth,
but just couldn't hold the Brussels
attack. Scoring for the visitors were
Cory Chapman, Matt White, Chris
Corbett, Christopher Jutzi and Greg
Bowers.
Wayne McDougall were happy
with the overall effort but added,
"there is still lots of room for
improvement."

edge their hosts 3-2.
Mike Courtney, assisted by Jeff
Cowan and Darryl Bromley, got
Blyth on the scoreboard late in the
first.
Chris Carter sent Ansley in on a
solo rush early in the second, to tie
the score 2-2.
The Bulldogs slowly took control
with solid team play.
Anderson was the hero early in
the third as he scored the game
winner on a nifty wrap-around with
assists from linemates Gerritts and
Stephen Oldfield.
The Bulldogs prevented Ripley
from scoring until the final buzzer.
27 to 14. However, hard work and
good goal keeping gave Brussels a
2-1 victory. Scoring for Brussels
were Hall from McClure and
Blake. Monkton tied the game.
With 10:38 left in the game
Campbell stole the puck behind the
net and passed it out front to Kenny
McCallum, who fired the puck past
the Monkton goalie to give
Brussels a 2-1 victory.
On Sunday Brussels closed out
their busy week as they travelled to
Listowel. Once again Brussels was
outshot 22-16. Listowel scored the
only goal of the first and got their
second goal half way through the
second.
Brussels got on the scoreboard as
McCallum scored from Dilworth at
the 6:22 mark.
Listowel held off the Brussels
attack time and time again. They
were rewarded with a goal at the
five-minute mark to take a 3-1
victory over the Brussels squad.
The coaches said, "Our PeeWee
team is starting to play well
together. The players are working
hard."
