MEL CRAIG Mel Craig died suddenly at Bluevale, Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997 while chatting with friends. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Armstrong) who predeceased him Jan. 22, 1997. Memories of a Dad who was always there when needed will be cherished by his children: Kathy and Frank Workman of Grey Twp.; Mary and Larry Martin of Bamberg; Pat and Don Nolan of Walton and Margaret and John Carswell of Teeswater. Mel took great pride and interest in the lives of his grandchildren: Lisa, Cheryl, Colleen and Jennifer Carswell and Julie (Mrs. Ron) Walker; Mark, Michael, Tim and Pam Nolan; Chris and Michelle Martin; Peter and Craig Workman. Great-granddaughter Rebecca Walker always brought a smile to his face. He was the brother-in-law of Hazel Craig of Auburn, Mary and Jack Taylor of Belgrave and Tom and Joan Armstrong of St. Augustine. Mel was predeceased by his parents Jim and Annie Craig, his brothers Arnold and Bill and his sister-in-law Maud. Mel was bom Sept. 28, 1918 in West Wawanosh Twp. If a useful item could be crafted from wood he was always interested in making it. Wooden plate frames, fem stands, birdhouses, lamps, specialty cabinets, and much more grace the homes of his friends and family. Throughout his life Mel was a member of Carlow Morningstar Masonic Lodge and later an affiliate of Wingham Masonic Lodge. He was active in Bluevale United Church, served a term as the Morris representative on the board of education and also served on Wingham and District Hospital board.
