She has been teaching in Pusan, South Korea for the last 14 months. She is not sure of her plans right now, but they hope she will be home for a while. "Home Sweet Home" Craft and Bake Sale is being held on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Belgrave Community Centre. It is sponsored by the Belgrave Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders. Everyone is welcome. The Knox United Church Board of Steward "Roast Beef Supper" is on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Everyone is welcome. Sympathy is extended to Jim and Irene Lamont in the recent loss of a dear brother, Joe Lamont from Duncan, Vancouver Island, British Club enjoys potluck dinner The November meeting of the Belgrave Community Club was held in the club room. Thirty-four enjoyed a delicious pot luck dinner. President, Lome Campbell welcomed everyone. The meeting opened with O Canada accompanied by Freda Johnston at the piano. The minutes of the last meeting and treasurer's report were received. Audrey Edgar reported on the bus trip to Paris. She would like the money by Friday, Nov. 14. The cost is $69 each. The bus leaves the arena at 9 a.m. Tickets are available for the Christmas dinner Dec. 5 at the cost of $10 each. Upcoming shoot parties are Nov. 14, Nov. 28 and Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the community centre. Mabel Wheeler conducted 44 play games of euchre There were 11 tables of euchre in play on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in the Women's Institute Hall. Winners were: high lady, Louise Bosman; second high lady, June Jacklin; lone hands, Viola Adams; low lady, Iona McLean; high man, Lloyd Appleby; second high man, George Michie; lone hands, George Inglis; low man, Stuart Chamney. The next euchre will be on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The seniors bowling scores for Wednesday, Nov. 5 were Alice A . Nicholson hosts WMS The WMS held its meeting Monday, Nov. 3 at the home of Alice Nicholson who opened with a poem. The purpose was repeated. God of Our Fathers was the hymn. Ivy Cloakey read from Psalm 90. Rev. Cathrine Campbell led in prayer. Margaret Siertsema gave the secretary's report. Ivy gave the treasurer’s report. Forty-four sick and shut-in visits were recorded. Columbia who passed away Thursday, Nov. 6 after a lengthy illness. Jim visited with him when he was out west this past summer. May thoughts and prayers be with the Lamont family in this their time of sorrow. John, Linda, Jeremy and Justin Campbell spent last weekend at Grand Bend. Ashley Irwin of Ashfield Twp. spent a few days last week with her grandmother, Betty Irwin. Calvin Nixon has returned home after being a patient for a few days at Wingham and District Hospital. The community of friends and neighbours are pleased that Calvin is improving and wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bolt of Hanover visited with their aunt Olive Bolt last Sunday. several interesting contests throughout the program. The president introduced the Zone 8 Field Reps from Zurich, Louise Hayter and Gwen McKellar. They expressed pleasure for being invited and for the delicious dinner. They presented the new USCO banner which is available from head office in Toronto. They explained the roll played by USCO to improve the life and care of Ontario Seniors. Doris Michie thanked the ladies and presented them with a card and gift. Olive Bolt gave a Remembrance Day reading. Ross Anderson and Lome Campbell favoured the group with mouth organ music. The McCracken family greeted worshippers on Remembrance Sunday, Nov. 9 at Knox United Church, Belgrave. Rev. Mary Jane Hobden welcomed everyone prior to the singing of Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus and Take My Life for song time. Silent meditation was followed by "Call to Worship" read responsively and Prayer of Approach in unison as printed in the bulletin. The Hymn of Praise, For All the Saints was sung by the congregation followed by "Remembrance Day Ritual", a Minute's Silence, O Canada and the Prayer of Confession in unison. The senior choir of mixed voices sang God of Our Fathers, accompanied by Elizabeth Procter at the piano. The Old Testament reading was taken from Ruth 3: 1-5, 4: 13-17, followed by the singing of Onward Christian Soldiers. The children gathered in the front pews for story time which was based on Remembrance Day. Sherri Sippel and Kendra Hopper were in charge of nursery. Psalm 127 was read responsively from the bulletin, followed by the reading from Mark 12: 38-44 and the singing of the hymn The Strife is O'er. The sermon was based on "Giving" and the widow who gave all and also on "Remembrance". A white cross adorned with scarlet poppies flanked by Guides, Pathfinders see play Eleven Guides, seven Pathfinders, several Moms and three guiders took a trip to Stratford on Saturday, Nov. 1 for a back- stage tour of Shakespearean Festival and then enjoyed the theatrical play Little Women. They also had an opportunity of meeting the Clinton Girl Guides who had organized the outing. Moms talk of quality time Mabel's Moms met at their regular time on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Mary Jane Hobden and Stephen; Kim Higgins, Laura, Ashley and Jarrod; Elaine Scott and Pay ton; Cindy McKee and Drew; Lila West Wawanosh council seeks lawsuit options West Wawanosh council once again dealt with the Greison law­ suit at the Nov. 4 meeting. Township solicitor Darrell Hawreliak was authorized to explore various options as dis­ cussed in a closed session of coun­ cil. Clerk-Treasurer Liliane Nolan was authorized to send a letter to the Blyth and District and Lucknow District Fire Departments regarding a conflict in boundaries. They requested the agreements be amended. Canadian and British flags, collage of clippings and pictures, memoirs of World War I, letters, cutlery, medals, formed the centrepiece on the communion table. This served as a solemn reminder of lives sacrificed for freedom and the debt of gratitude owed. Cathy and Ken McCracken took up the offering. Offertory song All That I am, Prayers of the People, The Lord's Prayer, closing hymn Lift High the Cross, Sending Forth, Commissioning and Three Fold Amen "Go Now In Peace" brought the service to a close. The Sacrament of Baptism will be on Sunday, Nov. 23 at Knox United Church. On Friday, Nov. 28 the session members have planned "Songs of Our Faith" concert at Knox United Church featuring John McIntosh, "Silence" (The Hussey family), Lila, Andrew and Ben Procter and others from the church and area. Plan to attend and enjoy an evening of faith filled music. Watch for more information. Sunday, Nov. 30 is the first Sunday in Advent and also White Gift services at Calvin-Brick and Knox United Churches with lunch following at Knox. Rev. Hobden will be in the office Thursday morning from 9:30 - 12 p.m. this week. This is not the only time you can reach her but it is the time people can be assured she will be in the office. Joanne will be in the office Friday from 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Please have all announcements to either of them by 2 p.m. Friday for inclusion in the bulletin. Department Manager Specials till closing On Thursday, Noy» 6 the Girl Guides had a special guest - Sharon - Agla, who shared her talent of folk art with the girls. They each made a - craft which will be sold at their annual "Home Sweet Home" craft and bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 15. Sharon was presented with a box of mint chocolate Girl Guide cookies in thanks.
