Editor's note: Leiters and ques tionnaires were mailed to all candi dates in the municipalities of Blyth, Brussels, East Wawanosh, West Wawanosh, Grey, Hullett, McKil- lop and Morris, and for board of education trustee. Whether they were acclaimed or running for a seat on council it is our feeling that they have the opportunity to tell their con stituents some of their views. On some of the following pages are the profiles of those who responded in several of the munici palities. Those from the remaining municipalities will be in next week's issue. Ralph Watson Ralph Watson is running for reeve of Brussels. He has previously served one term as village councillor. Watson wants to be involved with and informed about municipal restructuring at both county and local levels, which he feels is the most important issue facing municipalities and their polititians today. He has no political ambitions other than to "strive for the best solution for the village under the current restructuring and refinancing reform being forced onto our municipal level." Gordon Workman Incumbent Gord Workman is running for reeve of Brussels. With 10 years experience as reeve, and a few years on town council, his personal goal for the village is to keep taxes at a low so "everyone can afford to live in our thriving friendly village." He feels the most important issue is restructuring. He also said with amalgamation looming he would like to be involved to try and guarantee the best deal for tax payers. DECLARATION OF ACCLAMATION TO OFFICE Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (S. 37(1)) I hereby declare the certified candidates listed below to be acclaimed to the office of Trustee for the Police Village of Auburn pursuant to Section 37 of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996: NAME OF CERTIFIED CANDIDATE Sylvia ANDREWS Ken EMPEY Tony MARTENS DATED THIS 16TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1997 Liiiane Nolan-Clerk Township of West Wawanosh NOTICE OF VOTE TOWNSHIP OF MORRIS Mary Stretton Mary Stretton of Brussels has been acclaimed to the position of councillor. She has served in that role since 1988, representing the village on the recreation board, and police board as well as serving three years as a board of director for the Seaforth Community Hospital. Mary sought re-election because she says she is "worried about what will happen to the village with restructuring." "Bigger is not always better." While serving as a councillor, Mary says listening to the people of the village and trying to do the best for everyone, is her goal. "I will keep an open mind, listen to all concerns and try to come up with a solution," she says.
