Blyth council ponders right-of-way problem Continued on page 3 Doug Scrimgeour, Rob Lawrie and Gerald Kerr and Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart will attend the Oct. 24, Who Does What meeting at the Huron County Museum, Goderich. A bylaw was passed to change the zoning of Lot 89, Plan 168, from future development to resi dential low density special and Lot 88, Plan 68 from future develop ment to residential low density. Village Foreman John Rinn told council the winch used to install and remove the sander from the vil lage truck was quite old and unsafe. A new electric winch would cost approximately $2,000. Councillor Lawrie said the road committee would look into the situ ation. Chief Building Official Paul Josling attended the meeting to dis cuss a building permit application from Alex Blair. Blair planned to build a garage on his property. However, a 16.5 foot right-of-way runs along his property from the back alley to Gypsy Lane. A right-of-way requires a 25-metre setback instead of the one metre from a property line. Council suggested Josling con tact the Huron County Planning Department to determine if his sug gestion of a minor variance would solve the problem. To close the right-of-way might be too expensive as all the affected property owners would need to acquire new surveys, Josling said. *** Council declared Part Lot 12, Plan 168, to the south of the Post Office on Queen Street, to be sur plus property. ♦♦♦ A bylaw was passed to allow the temporary closure of Gypsy Lane from County Road 25 to Dinsley Street during the installation of storm sewers.♦♦♦ Stewart was authorized to reserve three rooms for the Ontario Good Roads Association conference in Toronto, Feb. 22 to 25.»*♦ Stewart was authorized to attend the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing conference in London, Dec. 5, at a cost of $85. *** The road committee will look at two trees which need to be trimmed or cut as the tree trimming budget for 1997 is spent.♦♦♦ Council had no objections to Black Fund Development Inc. advertising The Great Hospitals Lottery.♦♦♦ Stewart told council that 25 to 30 people enjoyed the fall walk along the Blyth Brook. Donations were received after the walk.•«* From the Blyth Memorial Hall board, Councillor Lawrie advised council that the committee would like to replace another rooftop unit next spring at a cost of $10,000 with 50 per cent being paid by the village.
