An Oct. 15 the Bly th Legion held its first annual Bridal and Fashion show at the Blyth Memorial Hall. MC for the evening was Lindsay Anderson. Legion members and affiliates modelled sportswear, coats, officewear, evening and bridal garments from local and out-of- town stores. Flowers for the stage and bridal bouquets were supplied by the local florists. Makeup and hair was arranged for the models by local salons and agents. Refreshments for intermission was provided by the Ladies' Auxiliary. Organizers for this event appreciated the effort put forward by the people behind the scenes and the retailers who donated door prizes to make this endeavour an enjoyable evening. At the fall meetings of the Blyth Branch donations were made to: First Blyth Group Committee, $500; Blyth Girl Guides, $500; Blyth Minor Hockey Draw, $100; Blyth Skate-a-thon, $200; Big Brothers of North Huron, $50; Auxiliary Parkwood Visitation, $200; Alzheimer's Society, $50; and the Ted Foster Christmas Fund, $50. Gift packages for the Parkwood Vets were prepared for the Zone C- 1 Hospital Visit that took place on Oct. 4. Upcoming events in the work of the Legion include the official visit by Zone and Deputy Zone Commander, Nov. 6 at 8:30 p.m. Poppy Day Campaign, Nov. 8 starting at 9 a.m. and Remembrance Day Service at the Blyth Memorial Hall at 10:45 a.m. A reminder to members and affiliates that participation in Legion activities is needed so that the Legion can continue to support the community. Blyth council talks policing Blyth council discussed policing options at the Oct. 6 meeting. After receiving a letter from Wingham Police Chief Jim Dore, councillors indicated they were interested in pursuing an option for coverage. However, council said service would only be possible if contiguous municipalities also selected the Wingham force to pro­ vide police services.
