Community art exhibit begins in Blyth, Nov. 23 Mystery abounds at Bly th Gail Gunderson and Brad Underwood are getting married - again! The happy couple's big event, to take place on the Blyth Memorial Community Hall stage Nov. 28 and 29, is the theme for Gail & Brad's Marvellous Wedding Adventure, a Blyth Festival mystery dinner/theatre show brought to you by those same zany folks who staged the popular production Come Back to the Gym Mary Lou, Mary Lou. Under the watchful eye of Rev. Father Doug Gravely, the anxious bride and groom gather together with the strangest cast of wedding characters ever assembled. There's a wedding gift nobody can afford, cellular phone that can't be put on hold, and a family lawyer with a briefcase full of trouble. Guests can enjoy the tunes of hearing impaired organist Mabel Mirshum and "that other choir", under the direction of Louise Dockstader, along with the musical antics of Blyth's very own Nasty Habits who also serve as ushers. Gail &. Brad's Marvellous Wedding Adventure was written by Mary Lou author Rob Bundy (who also plays lawyer Ned Hammersmith), with musical arrangements by Arlene Darnbrough. Duncan McGregor does double duty as director and troubled father of the bride, Floyd Herman is the flustered priest, Singing priest to do Christmas concert Every Day Is Christmas, a concert featuring the music of Father Mark Curtis, will be presented on the Blyth Festival stage Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. Father Curtis, dubbed "Canada's Singing Priest), will share his zest for life, great sense of humour and meaningful messages through stories and original contemporary songs and traditional carols. Currently the pastor at St. John the Evangelist Church in Dundalk, Father Curtis is originally from Hamilton and was ordained in 1985. His previous parishes included St. Michael's Church in Waterloo and Holy Rosary Church in Milton. Over the years, Father Curtis has raised thousands of dollars for a variety of causes through benefit concerts and has gained thousands of new fans. In addition, he has performed mini-concerts at schools and given motivational speeches. He has sung the national anthem at Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leaf games and received radio and television airplay across the country. Last year, Father Curtis and the Paul Bulla Band released a 14-song cassette, Under the Same Son, which features the words and music of Father Curtis through a mix of contemporary pop, rock, country, blues, folk and ballad-style music with proceeds supporting the Epilepsy Research Fund of Canada. Father Curtis' new Christmas CD has just been released. Father Curtis may be a singing priest, but that doesn't mean his concerts are preachy. His audiences are diverse in age and religion because the appeal of his adult contemporary music is universal. The Kitchener-Waterloo Record says: "He can make you cry and laugh all in one night. His music is uplifting, his show entertaining." The Hamilton Spectator says: "When Curtis opens his mouth, a mellow tenor voice that could comfortably front a pop band pours out." The St. Catherines Standard says: ...he grabs people by singing about life and love." The Elliott Lake Standard says: "His deep, rich singing voice captivates his audiences of young and old with its range and intensity..." Father Curtis will be backed on guitar and vocals in Blyth by Sean O'Brien, a well-versed studio musician, private teacher and composer.
