Carne, Sr. Pastor Huron Chapel Missionary Church, Auburn I buried a bootlegger, recently, and almost 300 people came to the funeral! I should have said, a former bootlegger, of course, for, many years ago, the grace of God transformed his life and, "old things passed away and all things became new." As a result the redeemed life of David Rolston had a powerful influence for good on many people. Hence the 300 at his funeral. Among them were six preachers, some of whom testified to being encouraged and helped financially to enter the ministry because of him. It all started when the evangelical message of the Gospel began to have an effect in the lives of various family members. His brother, Bob, became a Christian and entered the ministry; his mother was was "bom again," and then his wife. Surrounded by loved ones who had been transformed radically, David, too, surrendered himself to Christ. He became a happy and zealous Christian and spent the rest of his life trying to get people to God and to heaven. David founded the Huron Christian Men's Association. It was this group that bought a disused church in 1971 in Auburn and began Sunday evening evangelistic services in the village. Because they had adopted the motto, "Evil prevails when good men do nothing," they extended their ministry to Westfield, and began to sponsor an annual evangelistic Christmas banquet, featuring good gospel music and a dynamic preacher. In later years, when the Men's Association began to sponsor an annual evangelistic Christmas banquet, featuring good gospel music and a dynamic preacher. In later years, when the Men's Association began to fade, Dave and his wife, Doran, continued to hold these banquets. David could sell a banquet ticket to a fence post! A number of people found their Saviour on these occasions. The Rolstons organized othet gatherings, as well, where an offering was taken to support those going to the mission field or to Bible School. Doran's life with Dave was never boring, in addition to being a prolific teller of jokes, at which she always laughed, he was a hot footed traveller. Both here at home and during their winters in Florida the Rolstons hit every camp meeting and evangelistic service within three counties. Two and a half years ago, David almost died. When he made a miraculous recovery he and Doran became more zealous than ever, testifying and singing in churches and making personal visits all over the country in an effort to bring the people to Christ. Their small home has always been open to visitors at church for Sunday dinner and on weeknights for friends and neighbours to watch gospel music videos. If one stopped at his perpetual garage sale he was always invited into the house for coffee and fellowship, perfect stranger though he might be. And if you were a friend, don't admire something too much, for he was more likely to give it to you than sell it to you. He was generous to a fault, often impoverishing himself in order to enrich others. What a way to live! What a way to die! you. are. ‘We.Ccome. at the BLYTH COMMUNITY CHURCH OF GOD 9:45 a.m. - Sunday School for Children and Adults 11:00 a.m. - Morning Worship Bible Studies * Wednesday 10 a.m. & 7:30 p.m. Phone 523-4590 McConnell St., Blyth THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF CANADA you are welcome this Sunday OCTOBER 19 - PENTECOST 22 ~ HOLY EUCHARIST Rev.
