(8) Best Community Landscape
Beautification Project - This class
is open to any group such as
school, horticultural society,
municipalities, etc.
Planting or landscaping projects
must be done on public lands to
beautify the community.
Rules of the Competition
The contest is open to residents
and/or property owners of Huron
County. A property can be entered
in one class only with one entry per
property.
Judging will be done by both
photographs and visits. Class 2 and
3 (Farmstead) must be farm
operations and judging for these
two classes to be based on houses,
outbuildings, and surrounding
areas.
Class 3 registration will begin
October 10 and "before" photo
graphs will be taken in October if
the contestant wishes.
Registration for this class will
continue to May 15 with "before"
photographs being taken up to May
30. For all other classes,
registration deadline is March 31,
1999 as there are no "before"
Creating a walkway
It was a great day for some outdoor work, Oct. 10, as helpers and employees of H&R
Carpentry raked and smoothed a sidewalk along the south end of Turnberry Street in
Brussels. The sidewalk will be a benefit to residents of Huronlea as well as others along the
south side of town. Hard at work are, from left: Kevin Hastie, concrete truck driver, Gorrie,
Rick Cove, Clem Steffler, David MacPherson and Hank Van den Broek. The project to repair
several sidewalks along Turnberry Street is nearing competion.

between June 15 - June 30, 1999.
Decisions of the judges will be
final.
An entry fee of $20 payable to
Huron County IPM 99 includes two
banquet tickets for the
Beautification Awards Banquet to
be held in August of 1999 on media
day. Photographs of all entries for
each class will be displayed at the
IPM in 1999 and each entrant will
receive the photograph taken of the
class entered after the Plowing
Match.
Registration forms and
information will be sent out to each
household in Huron County in
March of 1998 and will also be
available at various locations
within the County.
Crime of
the Week
THEFT OF STEREO
Thieves stole stereo equipment
and speakers from a vehicle
sometime between Sept. 12-15. The
vehicle was parked at a business on
Cone. 14, McKillop Twp.
Items stolen included a Sony
cassette player, model XR-C700,
Sony CD player, model CDX-72,
and two MB quartz speakers.
