Receiving awards Brussels area graduates received Menzies awards at the Oct. 10 graduation ceremonies held at F.E. Madill Secondary School, Wingham. Recipients were, in back, from left: John Lowe, Chris Burkholder, Jeffery Elliott and Brent Pepper. In front, from left: presenter and George Menzies' granddaughter, Colleen Smith of Keswick, Nicole Foxton, Stacy Hahn, Janice Jacklin and Lorie Ann Black. The award goes to Brussels Public School graduates who continue their education at a post-secondary level. 8 receive Menzies Endowment Eight area students were honoured at the annual F.E. Madill Secondary School Commencement on Friday, Oct. 10 in Wingham. Colleen Smith granddaughter of George Menzies presented the George Menzies Endowment Fund awards to the graduates of Brussels Public School, who are continuing their education at the post secondary level. Lorie Ann Black is studying Batters up at Brussels 4-H Club On Sept. 29 Brussels #1 4-H Club held its first meeting. The topic was "Battered Up". Members got right down to business and voted for an executive and for a club name. They are now called Brussels #1 Cooking Club. Missy Engel is the new president, vice-president is Vincent Bauer, secretary is Anne Yuzwa-Rielly, treasurer is Ashley Keffer and press reporter is Cynthia DeWit. The leaders, Cathy Bridge and Julia Mitchell, taught members about different equipment and utensils, proper ways to measure things, what certain ingredients do and why they are important. They also worked in the kitchen making brownies and veggie squares. They were delicious. The second meeting was held on Oct. 6. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge. A total of 33 countries were represented.l Giesbrecht said that reflexology is a way of reducing stress and helping people feel better by using touch, usually on the pressure points in the feet. In some countries reflexology is also applied to the hands and ears. Giesbrecht heard speakers from around the world share about the professional developments of reflexology in their country and the scientific research studies being conducted.
