Protecting the community Whether fighting tragic fires, rescuing trapped accident victims or ensur ing the safety of residents, local volunteer firefighters contribute to their communities by giving of themselves to protect others. The volunteers of the Blyth, Brussels and Grey Twp. Fire Departments practice and train to ensure excellent response and care in time of an emer gency. It is through their efforts and the wonderful support of the residents which have allowed the department to build a new fire hall or purchase updated equipment in recent years. The continuing efforts of these dedicated residents will ensure our com munities the best protection possible, whether the call comes on a warm summer day or in the bleakest hours of a January night. Our communities have the assurance the firefighters will respond. A thanks should also go to the many employers of our firefighters who allow them to leave work on a moment's notice to assist with any call, be it medical, vehicle or fire related.
