Pastor Ben Wiebe preached at
Brussels Mennonite Fellowship on
Sunday, Sept. 28. Genesis 1:26,27
and Romans 1:5-11 were the
scripture text he chose as a basis
for the message.
Pastor Wiebe pointed out that the
main criteria for conversation is
that there must be room for two
people who are open with each
other. Humans are made in God's
image - created to correspond with
God, created for relationship.
Creation means relationship and
God took delight in his creation.
Even ordinary, everyday events are
much more meaningful if shared.
"We need to share with God for
our lives to be meaningful. God is
not interested in total control; He
Steinman led the congregationalseeks relationship, not control
An overflow crowd gathered at Melville Presbyterian
Church, Brussels, on Sunday, for its anniversary, to enjoy
a succulent beef dinner with friends and neighbours.
Gerald Gibson, left and Dg-h Armstrong had the job of
carving up the roast.
Sometimes however we try to take
control."
"Sin is working against the
purposes of the creator," and this
harms the relationship," said Pastor
Wilbee. "The creator of-all things
awaits our response because He
wants a relationship with us. The
relationship brings peace through
the love of Jesus Christ. God
bridges the gap in the relationship
that is brought about by sin."
"It should be our desire to
recognize the gifts of those with
whom we are in contact. Our
appreciation of others affirms
God's gifts, for others are God's
gifts to us."
Elwin Garland was worship
leader for the service and Thelma
singing, accompanied by Darlene
Hemingway, as pianist.
The youth held a program at
Huronlea on Friday, Sept. 26. An
intergenerational social time was
held at the church afterwards.
The Ladies Fellowship held a
meeting Tuesday evening with
Eileen Baker as guest speaker.
The congregation is preparing for
a workshop for all interested
persons next weekend. Dr.
Waldemar Janzen, will be the
resource person and will hold
sessions Saturday and Sunday
morning on the theme, "Biblical
Perspectives on Work".
Dr. Janzen will bring the
message on Sunday morning.
