On Wednesday, Sept. 17 the Seniors won their first of two games. The girls went up against South Huron District High School, Exeter, away, and were victorious by a commanding score of 49-17. Coach Coulthard said, "They put out an excellent team effort, and it was a good way to start the sea­ son." With that win under their belt they went on to face Saint Anne's Secondary School, Clinton, at home on Wednesday, Sept. 24, winning 48-24. The Juniors did just as well win­ ning their first game against South Huron, then facing Saint Anne's to win 37-12. The senior squad continued their strong play when they met Central Huron Scondary School Redmen, Sept. 29. They captured a 42-31 victory. The junior team was not as fortu­ nate, suffering a 29-20 loss. At the Huron County Fastball League banquet the Tigers collected their third consecutive league title, the first time a team has accomplished the feat and T. Fritz earned MVP honours. The Tigers ended the year with the Huron County Fastball League Championship, the WOAA Homebrew trophy and the WOAA Grand Championship. The Tigers are planning a year- end banquet and dance in late October. More details will follow in the following weeks. If the distance between the residence of a person seeking nomination and the Chatham Civic Centre is more than 100 kilometres, that person should speak to the Clerk in the municipality in which he resides to be Informed about the opportunity which exists to file his nomination paper in his own municipality. A nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent on any day in the year that is after March 31st, 1997 and is before October 10th, 1997 at a time when the Clerk’s Office is open or on October 10th, 1997 (Nomination Day) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A prescribed nomination filing fee ($100.) must accompany the nomination form. A nomination must be certified by the Clerk before such person becomes a certified candidate for the office to which he or she is nominated.
