Grade 2s happy with reading buddies
Rebekah Lodge hosts
evening of friendship
Kindergarten is starting a new
year with a new generation.
Kindergarten A has 15 students
who attend every Monday,
Wednesday, and alternate Fridays.
Kindergarten B has 17 students
who attend Tuesday, Thursday, and
every other Friday. They have been
working hard to learn the routines
of kindergarten. Mrs. Hall says
everyone brought their baby
pictures of themselves when they
came to school. They compared the
pictures and found lots of changes
between them.
Mrs. Douma's class read a poem
"Jelly in the Bowl". They made
jello and found that the jello
powder dissolves in the boiling
waler. They made a graph and
found that grape and strawberry
jello were tied for being the
favourite flavours. When the jello
set they discovered that it wibbled,
wobbled, jiggled, joggled, wiggled,
and shook. With white glue and
jello powder everyone made
scratch and sniff initials for
themselves.
The children in Grade 2 love
their new teacher "Ms A", replied
Megan Keffer. Ryan Jutzi says they
made spiders out of newspaper.
The Grade 2s love the idea about
having reading buddies. .
The pupils in Grade 1, 2 and 3

so much fun at the Brussels Fall
Fair! They worked with a partner to
decide the movement, path and
seats. Then they built a ride using
pie plates, cereal boxes, straws, egg
cartons, cups and small boxes.
Ms MacDonald's class is making
books about themselves. They are
presenting their work to the class.
The children really love Mme.
Anguish and say Ms MacDonald
spoils them. They receive prizes at
the end of the week.
Niki Mason and Tyler Jutzi were
dazzled when they got the chance
to use the wooden instruments
during Music Class. They also like
the French teacher Mme. Anguish.
Most of them look forward to gym
class.
Racheal Speers and Cory
Quesenberry both like the idea of
having reading buddies. They give
the children a great model by
showing them how to share, co
operate and work together. They
also read to each other. They love
Science. They measure small boxes
and other food items. What they are
trying to find is the amount of
volume. They also love the French
teacher Mme. Anguish and their
teacher Mrs. Whyte.
The Grade 7/8 class has been
busy working on their resume.

It was a great turnout at Brussels
Public School on Thursday, Sept.
25. We were glad to see all the
parents and staff having a great
time.
All the students we talked to
gave us basically the same report
about 'Meet the Teacher Night'.
They liked the food, and they liked
showing their parents around.
From Mrs. Douma's class,
Brianne Wheeler told us they made
objects out of vegetables. She also
said they made their favourite rides
from the fair, out of styrofoam
cups, straws, corks, and other odds
and ends.
Mrs. Clark's and Ms A's class
also enjoyed this. They sure have
been creative.
The Grade 4s in Ms Macdonald's
class have been working on an
interesting Spider unit. They are
studying Charlotte's Web. They are
hoping to attend the live
performance in Blyth at the end of
the month. They make a very
successful team.
Mrs. Whyte's Grade 6/7 class has
