Plenty for young and old to enjoy at annual event
Little rider
Photos by Les Cook and Janice Becker
A 1932 Ford miniature car, owned and driven by Tom Penhole, cruised the fairgrounds at
Blyth this past weekend for the Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion, much to the delight of his
young passenger, whose smile for the camera maybe didn't show, but could offer a friendly
wave in passing.
Fresh produce
A slice at a time
A log is slowing trimmed into planks, then 2x6s, as Wilbert Philippi operates the steam-
powered sawmill at the Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion, Sept. 5 to 7, in Blyth.
A farm show just wouldn't be complete without a selection
of fresh fruits and vegetables. Thousands of visitors to
Blyth were offered a choice of tasty edibles during the
reunion.
On course
All fired up
Steam engines were smoking and chugging in all corners of the Thresher park as
enthusiasts showed off their machines as well as steam-powered equipment such as small
sawmills and shingle makers.
He maybe didn't get them to jump through hoops, but this
border collie, owned by Jim and Ruth Clark demonstrated
how with a little leadership you can steer just about
anything in the right direction. This si the second year the
couple's dogs have shown people at the Thresher
Reunion how they get sheep and ducks to tow the line.
