Moving out Several Thresher Reunion members and volunteers were on hand Monday morning to begin the set-up for the Sept. 5-7 event in Blyth. Figure skating underway School is in and local arenas will soon be flooded for ice pads. The Blyth Figure Skating and Power Skating Club will be holding registration at Blyth and District Community Centre, Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart informed council that he is await­ ing the go ahead from Cardinal Traffic Systems to turn on the newly-installed decorative street lights.**♦ Council endorsed a health pro­ motion plan for Huron and Perth Counties entitled "Celebrating Our Community".♦♦♦ Foreman John Rinn reported to council that the fence posts and hydro boxes along Gypsy Lane had been painted. There are 13 hydrants left to be painted, he said. Council authorized Stewart to forward an application for a zoning amendment for Lots 88 and 89, Plan 168, to the Huron County Planning and Development Depart­ ment. The change would result in the property being zoned residential low density instead of future devel­ opment. A public meeting is scheduled for Oct. 6 at 7:15 p.m. in council chambers. Bailey and Stewart were autho­ rized to sign a release and cancella­ tion of a fidelity bond from Elliott Ins. Brokers Ltd.*** Council authorized payment of the second installment levy to the Blyth and District Community Centre in the amount of $12,414. Tenders will be called for the installation of a drain along Gypsy Lane and from Gypsy Lane, through Thresher’s Park to the vil­ lage limits. The tenders will be opened at the Sept. 16 meeting.
