Homecoming ’97, one fun- filled weekend
Up and away
Those beautiful balloons were released at the Brussels
Homecoming's opening ceremonies in front of the Legion
on Friday night. Town Crier Wayne Lowe rings the bell
while Jim Prior and Ralph Watson release 125 balloons
each carrying a message to the finder.
Still having fun
Laid back and relaxed, Ross Mitchell and his chicken
seem to be enjoying their ride through Brussels as they
participate in the Homecoming parade.
Animal affair
A puddy-tat
There were all kinds of
colourful, cuddly characters
on Brussels main street this
past weekend as Kids Street
provided entertainment in
many forms.
The Richmond Family Zoo went on parade, Sunday, as
the children were caged and cuddly for the long ride past
the ball park and down Turnberry Street in Brussels.
Hear ye!
Finger lickin’
Jeremy Ross, 1 1/2, of Brussels enjoys the cool ice-cream
served up compliments of IGA during Kids' Street on a very
warm Saturday afternoon in Brussels. The special event
was part of the village's 125th anniversary celebrations
over the holiday weekend.
Brussels Homecoming Town
Crier Wayne Lowe got down
to work officially at the
Thursday night Talent Show.
Besides Wayne, Jo-Ann
McDonald and John Lowe
kept visitors informed as to
where the action was
throughout the celebratory
weekend.
The bearded men
Joyce Statia takes a closer look at the beards grown for Homecoming, which she and her
husband Paul were judging. Prizes were awarded to, from left: Bill Clark, sexiest, John
Harrison, best groomed; Don Crawford, best attempt; Jack McCutcheon, most colourful; Bob
McCutcheon, bushiest; Wayne Lowe, longest and Councillor Mary Stretton, phoniest.
