On July 28 at home, they met Seaforth and came away with a 14- 12 win. After whitewashing the vis itors in the first, Devin Moffat crossed the plate to put Belgrave ahead. Seaforth got the lead in the sec ond, scoring three, while allowing only Matt Walker to reach home in the bottom half. Seaforth jumped up two more in the third, but a big Belgrave inning got them back into the game. Crossing homeplate were Jason Fear, Kent Readman, Moffat, Craig Marks and Myron Hussey. Things got scary once again in the fourth, when Seaforth slugged it out for six more runs. Belgrave was not outdone, however, cashing in three of their own to bring them within one. Matt Bromley, Chad Cook and Travis Hopper scored. Then after holding the visitors to one run in the fifth, the team edged the victory from them, helped by a Justin campbell homer. Also scor ing were Marks, Curtis Knight and Kent McPherson. The next night the team went to Belmore and came home on the high side of a 20-17 final. Belgrave started slowly with just Moffat and Marks scoring, then defensively allowing seven Belmore runners home. In the second, things continued to look bad as Belmore shutout their visitors, while adding two more on U-18s down Newton LOCATION: SEAFORTH ARENA 9:00-10:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon 12:15 p.m.-1:45 p.m. 1:45 p.m.-3:15 p.m. 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Sat, Aug. 23 5:00 p.m.-6:30 pm. their side. It really began to look like the hosts' game after Readman, Cook and Hopper scored in the third to bring the team a little closer, only to have Belmore answer back with eight. What seems to be the pattern for the Belgrave squad, however, the final innings tell the tale as they rallied for a total of 15 runs in the fourth, capped by a Hussey home- run. Bears, Panthers play The Bears met the Panthers on the mini-soccer field on Tuesday, July 29 for their second last game of the season. The entire Bears team tried then best but the Panthers fired five goals past the Bears* goalies. Taylor Prior, the Bears' top scorer, had two excellent goals for his team. All the Bears have learned the basics of soccer this season, and have improved greatly over the past few months. They are passing the ball to fellow players and realizing the importance of team play. The good little sports on the Bears team include Gavin Bowers, Morgan Deitner, Trista Deitner, Thomas Johnston, Emily Prior, Taylor Prior, Ty Sebastian, Alix Sholdice, Emily Warwick, Randy Zwep and Danica Zwep.
