HOMECOMING ’97, WEDNESDAY, JULY 23,1997 Memories offesteryears Former resident says thanks to Brussels From the January 12, 1972 issue of The Brussels Post. In a letter addressed to the people of Brussels, a former resident Mrs. Victor Hinton tells how she appreciated the time spent in Brussels and expresses appreciation for the kindnesses extended her and her family. Writing from 45 Regina St., London Mrs, Hinton says: Since I haven’t received any wild sobbing phone calls or letters for me to return to your village I take it you n Continuing to grow— The quarters of the Brussels Legion were expanded in 1972. The framing of the southern addition was well underway during October of that year. entertains from: Don, Jill & Staff at choiceCONTINUED FROM PAGE 17 and snowshoe events. In the evening a large crowd danced in the arena to the music of a German Polka Band. Sunday afternoon the snowmobile events took place while the hungry spectators and participants enjoyed the delicious beef barbecue. All those responsible for the successful new venture deserved credit for their efforts. took my departure very well. I must however confess, I truly miss living there, as I do have a lot of good friends there. One thing I really missed was painting the town red at Christmas. My main purpose however is to thank all the people of Brussels for all the help and kindness we received in all my family illnesses. The cards and letters sent to Vic at Victoria Hospital were greatly appreciated. In the eight years we lived in Brussels we felt very much at home. Vic is coming along quite well after his heart surgery and is now home. I want to especially thank the fellows from the coffee klatch for leaving their steaming brew to help me move some of my extra furniture, especially (the piano). I want to thank Mr. Bryans as I believe he grunted the loudest. Tom Garness receives honourable mention for helping to move a rather heavy wardrobe he thought he wouldn't have to move again after giving it to me four years ago. Thanks Fellows. If any one in Brussels has the misfortune to have someone at the hospital and find they have to stay overnight please let me try to repay some of you in the only way I can. You will be more than welcome to stay here. Visit when you can. Happy 125th Brussels!
