Tigers earn sixth victory
The Brussels Tigers recorded
their sixth win of the season as they
downed the Lieury Jets 8-6 in
Huron County Fastball League
action.
Brussels opened the scoring in
their half of the first as Ron Strome
cashed a Tim Fritz hit to make it 1-
0. The Jets evened things in the
bottom of the first scoring on a
wild pitch.
The Tigers regained the lead in
the second as Pete Exel scored
Brain Neill and a Greg Fritz single,
plated Doug Shaw to make the
score 3-1 after three.
Lieury crept to within a run in the
fourth as an errant pick off attempt
at third failed.
The Tigers added to their lead in
the seventh by scoring five runs.
The big blows were a Tim Fritz
stand-up triple and a Steve Fritz
homerun. These runs would prove
to be valuable as the Jets scored
four in the seventh on a grand slam
homerun. But they would get no
closer as pitcher Shawn Conley
struck out the final two batters to
end the threat.
Neill was four for four, Shaw
was three for four, while Greg Fritz
had two hits for Brussels. Conley
handled the pitching for the Tigers
fanning 14 jets.
The next action for the Tigers is
Friday as they play host to Seaforth
Plumbing and Heating.
