THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 16,1997 Honouring contribution Grey Township's Senior of the Year George Pearson was presented with a plaque by Grey Twp. Reeve Leona Armstrong, July 7. Pearson was recognized for his many attributes including: volunteering, membership on the Grey Twp. fire department for 28 years, sitting on the local school board, acting as a member of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery board and his immense knowledge of the community. Grey accepts tender Grey Township council held its regular meeting on July 7 and accepted the tender of KKN Builders Inc. for the bridge deck repair at Lot 32, Cone. 7/8 and Lot 35, Cone. 3/4. The KKN tender, amounting to $97,557.25 was the lowest of four tenders received. Work on the bridges will start during the week of July 14 and will last for approximately six weeks. The roads leading to the bridges will be closed to facilitate the repairs. A resolution was passed to advise the municipalities in North Huron of Grey Twp.'s preference for a two-tier government structure in Huron County. Robin Dunbar and Brad Knight were appointed as the township representatives to a committee to study restructuring options in North Huron. Council endorsed a resolution from the Township of North Managham with respect to its concerns with the lack of provincial guidelines and criteria pertaining to municipal restructuring. A bylaw was passed appointing the following to the Moncrieff Community Hall Board; Jim Smith, chairman; Ken Baillie, secretary­ treasurer; Bob Harrison, Dave Rathwell, Dale Smith, Elaine Smith, Susan Bedard, Robin Dunbar and Alvin McLellan. A grant of $50 was made to the Friend of 4-H fund. In other business council approved accounts totalling $274,035.79 for payment.
