Honouring contribution
Grey Township's Senior of the Year George Pearson was
presented with a plaque by Grey Twp. Reeve Leona
Armstrong, July 7. Pearson was recognized for his many
attributes including: volunteering, membership on the
Grey Twp. fire department for 28 years, sitting on the
local school board, acting as a member of the Mount
Pleasant Cemetery board and his immense knowledge of
the community.
Grey accepts tender
Grey Township council held its
regular meeting on July 7 and
accepted the tender of KKN
Builders Inc. for the bridge deck
repair at Lot 32, Cone. 7/8 and Lot
35, Cone. 3/4. The KKN tender,
amounting to $97,557.25 was the
lowest of four tenders received.
Work on the bridges will start
during the week of July 14 and will
last for approximately six weeks.
The roads leading to the bridges will
be closed to facilitate the repairs.
A resolution was passed to advise
the municipalities in North Huron
of Grey Twp.'s preference for a
two-tier government structure in
Huron County. Robin Dunbar and
Brad Knight were appointed as the
township representatives to a
committee to study restructuring
options in North Huron.
Council endorsed a resolution
from the Township of North
Managham with respect to its
concerns with the lack of provincial
guidelines and criteria pertaining to
municipal restructuring.
A bylaw was passed appointing
the following to the Moncrieff
Community Hall Board; Jim Smith,
chairman; Ken Baillie, secretary
treasurer; Bob Harrison, Dave
Rathwell, Dale Smith, Elaine
Smith, Susan Bedard, Robin
Dunbar and Alvin McLellan.
A grant of $50 was made to the
Friend of 4-H fund.
In other business council approved
accounts totalling $274,035.79 for
payment.
The next regular meeting of
Council is scheduled for July 21 at
7 p.m.

Hall bd. plans barbecue
The Cranbrook Hall Board is
planning a barbecue with beef
prepared by Jeff Cardiff for Satur
day, Sept. 13 at the Community
Centre. Call any board member for

Peter Hagedoom visited friends
at Poatash Lake in the Highlands of
Haliburton. Peter's artistic eye was
inspired with the wilderness
scenery which he likened to the
Group of Seven paintings.
Belgrave blasts Walton

Belgrave blasted the game open in
the second with a seven-run attack.
Coming home were Kent Readman,
Craig Marks, Justin Campbell,
Matt Bromley, Travis Campbell,
Curtis Knight and Moffat.
Walton had managed only one
after their second at-bat.
Belgrave added one in the third
when Bromley scored then topped
off their 12-1 victory with runs
from Moffat, Marks and Knight in
the fourth.
