Wilson family reunites for 15th bi-annual gathering The Wilson clan gathered for their 15th bi-annual reunion on Saturday, June 28 at the Auburn Community Hall and brought together descendants of the late Allan and Elizabeth Wilson of Colbome Twp. This event was hosted by the family of the late Tom and Ruth Wilson — Mac and Lydia Wilson, British Columbia; John and Edna Wilson, Toronto; Florence and Norman Wightman, Auburn; Allan and Mavis Wilson, London; Hilton and Gail Wilson, Toronto; Rosemary and Leonard Lassaline, Auburn and all were present. Allan and Elizabeth raised a family of 12 with three of them, Tom, Frank and Mary (Stoll), residing on farms in Colbome Twp. The Wilson clan representing seven branches of this family travelled to Auburn for a pot luck dinner and day of reminiscing from British Columbia, Florida, Arizona, Michigan, as well as all parts of Ontario. Prizes were presented to the head of the largest family present, driver of the oldest car, couple travelling the greatest distance that day, and the oldest and youngest Wilson present. Council discusses amalgamation options Continued from page 3 deciding who pays for the (road work).” Lawrie suggested the more municipalities having to deal with the same issue the more trouble there is finding a consensus. Reeve Mason Bailey agreed that one-tier may be the most practical way to go, but added “we will be in trouble if we inherit (the adminis tration) which is there now.” Bailey also stated concerns for representation if Huron County were to go to one-tier with only 10 councillors. Suggestions resulting from the strategic planning session, June 19, proposed options for the restructur ing of the county. Amalgamations in the central and southern regions of the county could result in four groupings, ranging in populations from 11,899 to 6,924. For North Huron, two options were put forth. The first would con tain three municipalities: Ashfield, East and West Wawanosh Twps.; Morris and Grey Twps., Brussels and Bly th and Wingham, Tumberry and Howick Twps. The population bases would be 4,707 to 6,583. A second possibility would see Wingham join the Wawanosh group, pushing the population to 7,197 while the other municipali ties would combine for a base of 8,954jesidents. Open evenings Mon.-Thurs.
