Hullett Central Public School
ions!We are the class of ’97
By Melissa Snell
Graduation is here, you've really
come far,
Rejoice and 5e*happy, accept who
you are.
Address every day with purpose
and aim,
Decide what
you want,
make living
your game.
Understand
and discover,
Always be
true,
The world is
your canvas,
Inviting and
new.
Opportunity
awaits you,
just walk through the door,
New moments each day are yours
to explore.
I'd like to welcome friends,
family, teachers and fellow
graduates here tonight. It's the night
we've all been waiting for.
The poem I just read by Marlene
Rose perfectly describes tonight and
what is happening all round us,
graduation. The word graduation
means change. Change is happening
all at once for us whether we want it
to or not. We're all finding
ourselves moving on to a whole
new part of our life and leaving this
great school, Hullett Central.
Change isn't something to be
scared of or sad about, though, it's
something to look forward to and
learn from.
We have all changed a lot in the
past nine years. We've learned ?md
become so much. We've also
matured and developed self
confidence for the future.
Who would've thought that this
day would show up so soon? It
seems like just yesterday that I was
stepping on the big, yellow bus
heading for my first day of school.
Over the years we've had great
teachers who taught us everything
from basic things like spelling our
name to challenging things like
geometry. We couldn't have made it
to where we are without them to
The Hullett Central graduates were honoured at a

teach and guide us each day.
Eight years ago we were in the
same situation we are now,
receiving our graduation diplomas,
except then from kindergarten. We
feel the same way now as we did
then, a little scared but willing to do
well in the future.
As we are handed our Grade 8
diplomas we think of the past,
present and future and are very
thankful toward our friends who
have helped us through these years
and to our family, especially our
parents who have guided us through
life and taught us to be who we are
today.
I'll always have so many
memories of my time at Hullett
Central and I know everyone else
will too. Who can forget all those
embarrassing and funny times?
How about the time that Matt was
really mad at Krista so he decided
to get back at her. He did! She was
pretty embarrassed to look down
and see her pants around her feet!
Or how about when we got our
Grade 5 class picture back and
Tiffany was horrified to find herself
flying low! I know I'll never forget friend,
when we were playing Kissing Tag
in Grade 2. Eli must not have
known the rules of the game
because he ran up, grabbed me, and
bit me!
Whether we realized it or not,
each of us have become close
friends over the years. We've had
happy and sad times together, won
games together, learned together,
and even got into trouble together.
We've stuck together, no matter
what. Even though we might head
in different directions we'll always
remember each other, and I'll
always think of each of you as a
Hullett might be part of the past
but that doesn't mean that this part
of our lives will be forgotten.
Hullett Central was a major part of
our lives and every one of us are
very thankful to everyone who's
helped put our lives into focus and
prepared us for the future. We ARE
the future thanks to you.
I'd like to thank my fellow
classmates for choosing me to be
their valedictorian. It was a great
honour to speak to everyone on
behalf of the graduates.
I'd also like to thank my
classmates for being such great
friends. I hope all the best comes to
each and every one of you.
Congratulations; we are the Class
of '97.
