However, the next game on the schedule was played, against Goderich Lions. Blyth gave it all they had, but Goderich scored twice in the first half. In the second half Blyth players played more together and kept the Goderich lead to only two goals. The final score was Goderich 2, Blyth 0. The next game was against Wingham Cyclones. Blyth got the first goal on a penalty shot by Greg Bechtel. Wingham got two goals before half time to take the lead. In the second half, Blyth began passing the ball and using each other. Some absolutely beautiful passing resulted in a goal by Sabrina Buffinga, assisted by Bechtel and Cody Anderson. Blyth's third goal was scored by Bechtel, assisted by Jamie Ross. Wingham scored a lucky goal to tie the game up. The final score Big winner The lucky winner of the $5,000 Brussels Lions elimination draw, Joyce Harman, receives her cheque from the club’s Third Vice-President John Exel. Thanks so much was Wingham 3, Blyth 3. The two Blyth teams were matched up in the next game. Blyth Two scored in the first half taking the lead into the second half. Blyth Once again came on strong and a goal was scored by Anderson, assisted by Bechtel with a pass from the corner. Both teams continued to play head to head but neither could manage a goal. The final score was Blyth Two 1, Blyth One 1. The fourth game was against Clinton Cougars. Clinton scored their two goals in the first half with Blyth only scoring one by Bechtel, assisted by Anderson and Ross. In the second half, as always, Blyth starts to play together and as they always seem to do, scored a goal to tie up the game. This one was scored by Bechtel and assisted by Jesse Hakkers. Final score, Clinton 2, Blyth 2. The most recent game was against Wingham Blazers. Blyth had just enough players and no sub. Even though the Wingham players were much taller (some of the fans can attest to that) and had many subs, Blyth got the first goal with a corner kick by Steven VanAmersfoort. Wingham used their strength to score two goals before half time. Taking a much needed break during half time restored the players' strength and they came on strong using their talent to outsmart the Wingham team. Two goals by Bechtel, one assisted by Anderson and the other assisted by the other team's goalie put Blyth in the lead. Wingham scored again making the score 3-3. Blyth scored another goal by Bechtel, this one assisted by Kerissa VanAmersfoort, then attempted to keep their one goal- lead but didn't quite have the energy. Wingham scored to tie the game. Blyth One is having a very good season and hopes to start winning instead of tying soon! Their next home games are on July 3 and July 10 both against the Lucknow teams. Fans are very much appreciated. Members of the Blyth One team are: Greg Bechtel, Cody Anderson, Jamie Ross, Sarah Slotegraaf, Steven VanAmersfoort, Candice Bearss, Sabrina Buffinga, Brad Bouman, Brad Schmidt, JC Beacom, Jesse Hakkers, Drew Crawford and Melissa Badley.
