The meeting began with the 4-H pledge. Roll call was a sport played on a school team. This week's presentation was by Julie Terpstra. It was on heart, lungs, muscles, and bones. She explained what each part does, then we had activities to do related to each. Lastly, she showed how to measure the strength of the biceps, pectoral, inner thigh and calf muscles using a bathroom scale. While the teaching team prepared members played "Concentration". When ready, the teaching team had us stretch, then we shot free- throws. We were split into teams and played basketball. Cranbrook[The news from | P. Hagedoorn, 887-6270 anti M.Saxon, 887-9287 | Smiths Artist donates work for local fundraiser gather The Smith family annual picnic was held at the home of Harvey and Marion Smith on Sunday, June 15. There were 90 relatives who gathered to celebrate this annual reunion and Father’s Day. Last Friday, six children participated in Kids' Club games activities. Next Kids' Club will be Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m. There is no charge as expenses are met through fundraising in the community. Peter Hagcdoom has donated two framed watercolour paintings for the annual raffle to raise money for the running of the Cranbrook Community Hall. First prize draw will be an 8 x 10 watercolour which depicts the Maitland River near the Cranbrook Bridge in fall colours. The second prize draw will be a 10" x 6" scene of the Maitland River at Grey Central School in winter. People wanting to sell books of tickets will be able to obtain them from Marg Saxon or Peter Hagedoom. Tickets will go on sale June 30. The draw will be held in Cranbrook Community hall at the last euchre party of 1997 at the end of November. The Cranbrook Community Hall board is organizing a community yard sale. The date is set for Saturday, Aug. 9 in the village. Families wishing to participate are asked to pay $2 to cover the cost of advertising. Contact Sheila Terpstra or Marg Saxon for further information. A food booth will be available at the hall for the sale of "Hots and Hams". More on this at a later date.
