Matt Wilson made a good defen­ sive play to end the top of the first and allow his team the opportunity to mount a comeback. Blyth did just that off the bats of Anthony Peters, Ashlee Cook and Erin Moore as they each belted homeruns. A nice play by Ben Caldwell at third earned the final out for Col- bome and put the bats in the hands of Blyth players. Justin Ritchie, Adam deBoer and Peters smashed Mites face tough opponent Belgrave Mite Boys had a tough loss to a strong hitting, strong pitching Howick opponent, at home June 5. The first out of the inning was a strike-out for pitcher Darcey Cook, who then did some fancy footwork to catch a pop-up for the second out. Another strike-out ended the inning. In between the visitors managed four runs. After an unproductive bottom half, Kyle Procter was on the mound. After two strikeouts, and five runs, Zach Home made a nice catch to get out number three. Belgrave got on the board with one run, when Cook stole home, Varna Mites too much for Blyth A strong opponent was the down­ fall for the Blyth Mites when they travelled to Varna, June 4. Though Josh Albrechtas did an excellent job pitching in the final three innings, he was unable to keep his squad in the game. Danny Cullen pitched the first. Blyth put two runs on the board when Kyle McNeil got on base plate homers with Katie McClinchey, Katie Stryker and Nick Dale con­ tributing singles. Colborne would not give up the fight as they blasted two homers in the second, one bringing in two runs. Blyth retaliated with a triple by McClinchey and a homerun by Moore. Strong defense was shown by Kendall Whitfield, catching a pop­ up in the third and grabbing a toss from Britt Peters for an out at first in the fourth? Blyth was victorious 23-10. then he was back on the mound for inning three. After a strikeout, it was tough going as the maximum seven runs crossed the plate. Belgrave failed to capitalize on their at-bat, then with Procter back on the mound, Howick pummeled their way to another six runs. The first out was Procters as he made a nice snag and ran down the runner on his way to first. Procter caught a fly for the second out, then struck out the batter for the final out. Belgrave got their final run that inning. Cook got the RBI. Cook came back on in the fifth where he got one batter to fly out, then struck out two. Only three run­ ners crossed the plate. then was pushed across the plate by an Albrechtas hit. Cullen also scored. Lisa Root hit home in the second off a single by Jimmy Ritchie, Down 13-3 going into the fourth, Blyth was held off the scoreboard though two players earned walks. Safe on first Ethel Pre-Mite John Bentley was safe at the bag while Ashley Sholdice of the Brussels squad made a good attempt at nabbing the grounder. The more experienced Ethel team outscored Brussels in their June 5 matchup. Brussels Bs beat Palmerston Two goals in the second half allowed Brussels U-18 team to tie Palmerston. Palmerston opened the game with two goals. The Palmerston keeper Eli Thompson did an outstanding job of foiling the attempts of Brussels' forwards Andrew Exel, Terry Brown and Rolf Frischknecht to score. In the second half a strong defense led by centre fullback Scott Central Huron Municipalities Restructuring Study / Clarkson limited the Palmerston attack. He raced across the field to tackle Palmerston forwards and ended their scoring threat. He carried the ball into the right comer of Palmerston and passed the ball to Terry Brown who scored. Adam Carr scored the equalizer when he carried the ball through the Palmerston team and scored off a Palmerston defender. Home goaltenders were Heming­ way and Troy Backhaus. Coach Pam McLellan said, "Team playing and passing are improving with each game. Three options are being looked at further: • Improving the Status Quo: retaining the existing local government structure (i.e. 7 municipalities) but identifying additional efficiencies beyond those already achieved. • Two Municipalities: restructuring into a Central Huron West municipality (Township of Goderich, Township of Colborne, Town of Goderich) and a Central Huron East municipality (Township of Hullett, Township of McKillop, Town of Clinton and Town of Seaforth). • One Municipality: restructuring into a single municipality combining the Township of Goderich, Township of Colborne, Town of Goderich, Township of Hullett, Township of McKillop, Town of Clinton and Town of Seaforth. Three public meetings have been scheduled to enable you to learn more and provide your views. The dates, times and locations are: • Public Meeting #1: Wednesday, June 25th, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. - Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton. • Public Meeting #2: Wednesday, July 9th, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. - Seaforth District High School • Public Meeting #3: Thursday, July 10th, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. - Goderich District Collegiate Institute At each meeting the options will be presented and an opportunity will be provided for public comment.
