On May 25, the Missing Children Society of Canada and Philips Lighting are helping to "light the way home" for missing children with the 1997 Porch Light cam paign. During the evening of Sunday, May 25, Canadians are being asked to turn on their porch lights to com memorate all missing children, offer a renewal of hope to those families who are searching for their missing children and to honour/memorialize the children who have been found. Founder and Chair of Missing Children Society of Canada Rhonda Morgan said that for families of missing children a porch light shining brightly throughout the evening of National Missing Children's Day signifies the hope shared for their child's safe return. It was 18 years ago May 25 that a New York child, Etan Patz kissed his mother goodbye and started off to catch the school bus, just two blocks away. He is still missing. The anniversary of his disappear ance was first designated as Miss ing Children's Day by U.S. Presidential Proclamation in 1981. In 1986 Canada followed suit when then Canadian Solicitor General Perrin Beatty declared May 25 as National Missing Children's Day in Canada. LEARN AUCTIONEERING.
