Two residential lots immediately south of the Grey Central School will be sold on June 25 at 7:30 p.m. by a public auction conducted by Joseph Zehr Auctions. Council accepted the tender of Ryan Construction for the Mills Municipal Drain at a price of $25,379.50. The Ryan tender was the lowest of two tenders received. Council opened four tenders that had been received for a 1997 pick­ up truck but deferred a decision until several items were clarified. Council endorsed the position of the Ontario Public Service Employees’ Union with respect to its recommendations that the provincial government phase in he new actual value assessment system over a minimum of four years and delay the downloading of property tax assessment responsi­ bilities to municipalities until such reassessment is complete. Woman home from hospital Mildred Yuill was released from Wingham and District Hospital after being a patient for a few days. Friends and neighbours wish Mildred a speedy recovery. The bus trip to Stoney Creek planned by the Women’s Institute has been cancelled. Because of this there will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 20 at 8:15 p.m. in the Women's Institute Hall. Special guest is Jean Young from the Town and Country Home Support Services. Everyone is welcome. The Grade 8 students at East Wawanosh Public School are hosting a ham and scalloped potato supper in the Women's Institute Hall in Belgrave on Thursday, May 15 with sittings at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser for their upcoming trip to Quebec.
