Winners were: high lady, Aileen Leddy; second high lady, Kay McCormick; low lady, Helen Martin; high man, Shirley Hackett; second high man, Irlma Edgar; lone hands, Jim Coultes; low man, Gordon Bosman. On Friday, April 26 there were 12 tables of shoot in play at the Belgrave Community Centre. Winners were: high lady, Ruth Johnston; second high lady, Kay McCormick; low lady, Agnes Bieman; most shoots, Isabel Montgomery; high man, George Inglis; second high man, Mabel Wheeler; most shoots, Richard Moore; low man, Gordon Bosman. Morris buffet a success A community bridal shower for Annie Procter was held on Monday evening, April 28 is the Belgrave Women's Institute Hall. The event was emceed by Marie McIntosh, who provided many humorou* stories and games which were enjoyed by all. Diane Jerva read a poem she had composed about Anne's life. The bride-to-be was showered with gifts, assisted by her mother, Mary Procter, and her future mother-in-law Louise Stainton. Anne then responded with an emotional thank you to all who had attended. The capacity crowd of about 80 people enjoyed a delicious buffet luncheon prepared by the fourth line of Morris. A social evening was enjoyed by all. Community club meets The regular meeting of the Belgrave Community Club was held on Friday, May 2 with 21 members present. The meeting opened with the singing of O Canada. The treasurer's and secretary's reports were accepted as presented. The next shoot will be on Friday, May 9. The wedding is on Saturday, May 24 in the Belgrave United Church. Last weekend Dale and Colleen Lamont of London were guests at his parents, Jim and Irene Lamont and helped Mike and Donelda Cottrill and family move. Sympathy is extended from the community to Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Walsh and family in the recent death of their son David. May thoughts and prayers be with the family in their time of sorrow. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walker and Margaret Robinson of Goderich visited last Saturday afternoon with Jean Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Walker also visited with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse. Birthdays in May are Harvey Edgar, Aileen Leddy, Doris Michie, Donna Shaw, Jack Taylor and Mabel Wheeler. UCW marks 35th anniversary On Monday evening, April 21, 12 members of Belgrave United Church Women attended an event celebrating the 35th anniversary of the UCW at Exeter United Church. This April event was planned by Huron-Perth Presbyterial UCW and was attended by over 300 women. Looking for local heroes There are so many people out there who do so much to improve their community. Now you have a chance to say thanks. Nominate that special person for the 11th Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards. Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an award for contribution to the community. Cheryl-Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa. Special vocal music was performed by the "Three Generations". All the past presidents of Huron Perth UCW were honoured and many of them were present to receive a corsage. A meamngtul communion service brought the evening to a close.
