Murray and Alison Sherk crashed
the plane through the wall.
Additional pledges brought the
total to $55,359.26.
Edwin Smart, missionary to
Nigeria, arrived in the final service
by hot air balloon, and was greeted
by three shrieking natives,
portrayed by Jason Baan, Steve
Campbell and Tim Newcomb.
Since the Huron Chapel
congregation pledged last year to
raise $50,00 for Missions and
raised, actually, $60,000, the
Missions committee thought that a
goal for 1997 could not be more
than $62,000. There was
considerable excitement, therefore,
when pledges received in the final
service sent the total of $67,014.
Since then additional pledges
received have raised that total to
$70,754.

Council was advised that Bainton
Ltd. was in the process of hiring an
engineer to complete a report on
the possibility of hooking into the
village sewage treatment plant.
Bainton Ltd. wanted some assur
ances that the hook up would be
allowed if the engineer's report was
favourable.
Stewart had spoken to Henry
Rouw, of the Ontario Clean Water
Agency, who said the treatment
plant was presently running below
50 per cent capacity and Bainton
Ltd. would have it running just
over 50 per cent. Any treatment
which the waste required would be
done by Bainton.
Council agreed with Scrimgeour
when he said he had no problem
with the hook up as long as the
report was favourable.
Blyth renewed its membership in
the Ontario Good Roads Associa
tion, at a cost of $165.**♦
Property Standards Officer Paul
Josling was authorized to investi
gate a concern for the property at

Part Block C, Part John Street
Closed and Drummond Street. A
report will be presented at the next
meeting.

Stewart informed council that
individuals and groups had been
using the campgrounds at the park
but there was no one to collect fees.
Occasionally, people stop at the
municipal office and others pay
Dave Cook if he is at the arena.
However, many do not pay.
The recreation committee will
look for a solution.♦♦♦

Council instructed Stewart to
contact Thalen, in writing and
inquire about any actions he would
take to repair the drain. If Thalen
did not plan any repairs, the village

original state) as described in the
