The Citizen, 1997-04-30, Page 23TOM FINCH Tom Finch of Brussels, passed away suddenly at his home, on Sat urday, April 26, 1997. He was in his 70th year. Well-known in the area, Tom and his wife Betty, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1945 in Hamilton, had moved from Belmont to Grey Twp. in 1959. A farmer, Tom was a hard-worker, who enjoyed an active life right up until his death. Despite moving into town several years ago, Tom continued to pursue his 'hobby' of farming on the family operation, working alongside his son, Gord. Tom was a talented woodworker, whose crafted cupboards at the family's two farmhouses remain as a legacy of his skill. He was an avid fan of the Toron to Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs — especially when they were win ning. But, most of all, Tom will be remembered as a loving and giving man, whose adoration for his fami ly came before all else. He was their strength in any storm. Mourning his loss most deeply is his life partner of 51 years, Betty. Tom was the loving father of Marg Henderson, Bayfield; Gord and Dale Finch, RR1, Ethel; Linda and Jim McLellan, Lucan and Bev and Jim Hodgins, Lucan. He will be sadly missed by his 10 grandchil dren and four great-grandchildren. Tom was the beloved brother of Ruth (George) Towers of St. Thomas, Reta (Dwt) Levere of Prescott, Jack (Reah) of Stoney Creek, Harry (Betty) of RR7, Lon don and Allen (Mary) of Belmont. He is survived as well by an aunt, Evelyn Moore of Belmont and sev eral nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Frank and Bessie Finch, Tom was prede ceased by a brother Sgt. Gordon Finch, RCAF, and one grand daughter. Visitation was at Betts Funeral Home, Brussels on Monday, April 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rev.
