Jesus is Lord Guests Welcome Morning Star Lodge held its meeting on Tuesday, April 20 with Noble Grand Laura Barbour presiding. The secretary's and treasurer’s reports were given. The Lodge received a number of invitations. Teeswater Lodge is on Friday, May 2. Perth Star Lodge, Listowel is Past Grand Club is having a luncheon on Monday, H. Elliott hosts WMS Melville WMS met on April 21 at the home of Helen Elliott. Thelma Cardiff read a short poem on spring and the changes it brings at winter's end. The hymn, We Plow The Fields and Scatter the Good Seed on the Land was sung. This was followed by a poem, "The Angel Spring". There was a reading, "The Real Story" which told about George Bennard who composed the words for the hymn, The Old Rugged Cross. He had the melody and theme for some time before finding the right words which he sang along with his guitar. For devotions, there was a short summary of teachers who came to tell of Christ's coming and what He expects of us. The 10 command­ ments and the sermon on the mount were mentioned. Mary Huether read the scripture Matthew 5, verses 1-11. Isobel Gibson led in prayer. The hymn, While the Earth Remainelh, Seed Time and Harvest, Shall Not Cease, was read in unison. Helen Elliott presided for the business. After the reports had been given, Helen then showed the members a very interesting video, "Faith Amid Change" and "The Church in China and Hong Kong". Members have been studying China this year and this excellent video gave an insight into the religion June 2. Clinton Lodge is having its 125th birthday to be held in Auburn Community Hall on June 7. There was a letter from Scott Mission, London. A letter was read from District Secretary Sister Edna Pearson informing members that Sister Bernice Ford of Exeter would be the District Deputy president for 1997-98 term. meeting. Lunch was served by Helen and Isobel Gibson and a social time was enjoyed. and other factors concerning the country and its inhabitants. A hymn was read, closing the got Up and over Cubs and Scouts from Brussels, Kincardine, Ripley and Lucknow took part in the Brussels club's third annual obstacle course challenge for BMX bikes, April 26. The Saugeen West District Cubs event, run at Maitland Valley Conservation area, Brussels, drew seven teams and 40 participants. Cards of thanks were read from Lillian Moses and Mary Elliott who had been ill. The bus will be taking any members who wish to go to the Rebekah convention in London in May. Contact Rene Richmond 887- 9340. Brother Roy Elliott thanked everyone for attending the church service in Clinton. Lunch was served at the close of the meeting. The last card party was held on Monday night, April 21. Winners were: high lady, Vera McDonald; high gent, Alvin McDonald; low lady, Elva Brown; low gent, Bill Young; lone hands, Georgina Garland; most zeros, Bill Kellington; lucky cup, Jeanne Ireland. The lodge members are grateful to those who attended the parties over the winter months.
