The service opened with the hymn This is the Day that the Lord Hath Made. Rev. Paul Ross welcomed and gave the church announcements. The junior choir, under the direction of Shelley Worsell, favoured the congregation with an inspiring hymn. Rev. Ross then spoke to God in prayer. The congregation sang Jesus Stands Among Us. The first Bible meditation was narrated by Rev. Ross from Jeremiah I. In this God spoke to Jeremiah and told him to go wherever God sent him, and to follow His word in work and speech. Three young men, Joel Arthur, Chris Carter and Graham Worsell, were called to the front along with elder, Larry Plaetzer. They were given words of instruction for celebrating their Confirmation and establishing their covenant in God's church. Close relatives were there for the laying-on-of-hands. Gifts and certificates were given followed by confirmation prayer. The hymn Speak Forth Your Word was sung. The children went to their Sunday School classes. Rev. Ross narrated from Timothy 4 about guiding of oneself to God in everything in life. The second New Testament reading was from Luke 2. In this, at 12 years old, Christ stayed behind in Jerusalem talking to church leaders as his family left for home. He surprised the elders with his answers and questions. The Bible readings closed with a prayer for God's help. The sermon, "Believe in Yourself", was special for the young people present. Questions were given followed by answers. Why and how do I pray? Will my prayers be answered? Will Jesus return to Earth? In the latter, Rev. Ross said people know that though Christ is not with them in body anymore He is always with them in spirit. He closed with prayer. The hymn Holy Spirit, Lord of Love was sung. A number from the congregation were called to the front to receive certificates for participating in "Hearing the New Testament Tapes". Rev. Ross and Larry Plaetzer presented these. A prayer of thanks for the word of God was then given followed by The Lord's Prayer. Collection was received and doxology and offertory prayer given. The closing hymn was We Thank Thee All Our God, followed by Benediction and Amens. The congregation was welcomed downstairs for a reception and lunch for the new members.
