Lodge visits begin in April
Remarkable achievement
Majestic Wl members honoured one of their own, April 9,
when Eleanor Hemingway received recognition for 50
consecutive years as a Wl member. She was presented
with her pin by Cindy VanNes, a Cranbrook 4-H leader.
Hemingway has actually been a Wl member for more
than 50 years though they were not consecutive.

Six members attended the second
Brussels 4-H meeting. We went to
the dam and took pictures from
different views and different spots.
We gave Doug Mitchell a
surprise birthday party. He had a
very neat expression on his face.
Jane Runstedler made Doug a
chocolate cake; it was delicious.
We placed pictures by one, two,
three and so on.
Next week we are going to Doug
and Janet Mitchell's to take pictures
of their elk and animals.
of their 100th birthday. An
invitation was read from Paisley
Lodge regarding their April 28
annual Brother's night. At May
Queen Lodge, London, Brother's
night is April 16.
There is to be a birthday party in
Teeswater on May 2 and Perth Star,
Listowel on April 10.
The District meeting was held on
Wednesday, April 9 with a good
attendance of Past Grands. Sister
Richmond was in charge of this
meeting and read her year's report.

be the District Deputy President for
1997-98.
A short program followed the

The annual meeting of Majestic
Women's Institute was held at the

President Ruth Sauve opened the
meeting with a reading "Healthy
and Wise". The Institute Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect followed.

50 continuous years of service. Her
daughters Ruth Axtmann and
Marion Godkin were also present
for the presentation.
Twenty-three members and 12

Ruth read "Today's Aim" and the
"Objectives" from the Wl
Handbook. Secretary Kathy Bridge
read the minutes from the March
meeting. Jean Bell gave the
treasurer's report.
Visitors were introduced. Gifts
were given to 4-H leaders, Cindy
Van Nes and Kathy Bridge, for all
their time spent with the youth in
the community.
Kathy read the correspondence
which included a Certificate of
Recognition for the 100th
anniversary from Helen Johns. The
Wl Centennial Song was sung.
Reports were given from the
various offices.
A break was taken with Lyle and
Alice Brothers showing a nice
variety of slides of Cullen Gardens.

revealing one's Sunshine Sister.
Following this the minutes from the
annual meeting were read.
A report was given by the
nominations committee followed
by the installation of officers by the
board director for Subdivision II,
Winnifred Mann. Winnifred then
gave a very thoughtful talk on
"Treasure the Past - Work for the
Future".
People need to work together
with a positive attitude. They need
vision as well as action. Vision
without action is only a dream and
action without vision only passes
time. But together they can make
change.
Winnifred was thanked and
presented with a fruit basket by
newly appointed president, Edna
McLellan. New business was
covered.
A dessert euchre will be held
May 20 in the afternoon and an
evening euchre will be held June 3.
Delegates were selected for the
district annual in May.
The Hymn of All Nations and
God Save The Queen were sung to
end the meeting.
