Inner healing, counselling centre comes to Auburn
By Janice Becker
Citizen staff
"We have become human do-ers instead
of human beings."
That is just part of the philosophy behind
Innerfit, a new retreat/
symposium/counselhng centre which has
been opened in Auburn by Gabriele Del
Bianco.
Raised in Ingersoll, Del Bianco says he
was tired of seeing rural residents travel to
the cities for services. So, after operating his
business in Windsor for many years, he
decided to move to rural Huron County.
Del Bianco says he had always dreamed
of living in an old church or schoolhouse.
Then one day, on a drive through the
country, he happened through Auburn, a
community he had never heard of before.
There, in front of a former church stood a
For Sale sign.
"I went inside and I fell in love."
Though his business manager told him it
was not the way to do things, Del Bianco
had found a place he loved, so changed his
life to suit it
In a way, this philosophy is what Del
Bianco teaches through his retreats,
seminars and motivational speaking.
"Though the stresses may be different in
the country than in the city, they are still
there. People get up in the morning and
though they may get a lot of things done,
there is no purpose to their work. There is a
lack of meaning. It is not giving anything to
their life."
Educated with a bachelor's degree in
philosophy and psychology, a Master of
Divinity, Canadian Association of
Psychology and Pastoral Education training
and soon to be certified in neuro-linguistics
(the skill of mental, positive re
enforcement), Del Bianco has spoken before
church leaders and children, Lions and
business executives, nurses and police
officers.
He is a motivational speaker who can put
enthusiasm back into workers, rejuvenate
club leaders or help churches define a
mission statement.
Every presentation is customized to the
group or individuals with whom he deals
and the talks can range from business over
breakfast to a three-day school or church
mission program, he says.
He also offers consulting which, through
the use of a symposium, solidifies
accomplishments made through improved
communications and problem-solving
techniques.
As of April, Del Bianco has added a place
of quiet reflection or "stillness point" to his
mobile capabilities.
The renovated church in Auburn will be
used as a retreat/symposium centre. "It will
offer not only an atmosphere which will
bring an automatic sense of peace, purpose
and meaning to all those who enter, but also
a memorable place in which, for a while, the
world outside can be 'loosened' from us. Our
minds can re-focus on ourselves as persons
of great value," says Del Bianco.
As well, those entering marriage this year,
may want to take part in a weekend session
which will help participants learn and
enhance human skills of communication,
listening, dream setting and ever how to
fight fairly, he says.
There will also be programs aimed at
teaching teens life skills.
Innerfit, as the name indicates, focuses on
inner fitness because, as Del Bianco says,
"Until we have a sense of inner fitness in our
lives, marriages, communities and
workplaces, life will remain too much
struggle and too little happiness."
"I will live here for the rest of my life and,
in the short time I have been here, the people
have already given so much to me in support
and a new sense of trust. They have given
me a gift. I want to give something back."
Del Bianco can be reached at 526-7625.
The cost of sessions is geared to income.

Organ prelude with Nancy Park,
opened the Knox United Service at
10 a.m. on April 6. Guest minister
for the service was Richard Bain
from London.
The opening chorus was This is
the Day that the Lord has Made,
followed by welcoming all and
offering prayer. The hymn For the
Beauty of the Earth was sung,
followed by prayer for the
assurance of God's Pardon.
Jesus Loves the Little Children
was sung. The children went to the
front. Mr. Bain told them about his
trip to Vancouver and driving up
into the mountains. He said he went
on a hike and started to worry
about a bear in the bush. He found
out that he was wonying needlessly
as the bears were still hibernating.
He closed with prayer and the
children went to their Sunday
School classes.
The hymn The Lord is King was
sung. Scripture was from Isaiah 21,
concerning the blossoming of the
desert land the strengthening of
people who were weak.
The New Testament lesson was
from John 21. In this, after the
crucifixion, the disciples went
fishing but the fish were not biting.
Then Jesus gave them directions.
They followed and caught a net full
of fish. Thine is the Glory was
sung.

"This Side of Easter" was the
topic of Mr. Bain's message. He
spoke about people who have
worries and troubles, but still put
their hope and trust in God. He
gave one reading written by a
prisoner in Germany during the
Nazi reign, who wrote with the
conviction of God's presence. He
told of Albert Schweitzer, saying
that as a child he was dared to tell
the Pope there is no God. Einstein
took the dare, Bain said, but found
that he could not say it as he knew
that God lives.
