At the April 2 meeting of the landfill committee, Blyth Clerk- Treasurer John Stewart was autho rized to prepare a bylaw which would implement a user fee for the village. The fee rates set out by the com mittee were: 52 free bag tags per year then $2 per tag; car trunks, $5; small trucks and dumpsters, $10; wagons, $25; single axle trucks, $35 and tandem axle trucks, $50. If passed by Blyth council, the user-fee system would take effect June 1. John Giousher of Blyth is putting his, and others’,smoking habit and others to good use by collecting the plastic strips from the cigarette packages. The thousands of strips gathered are taken to Huronlea in Brussels by Pat Brigham where the seniors count and bundle the plastic. The bundles are then returned to the cigarette company which then contributes money towards teddy bears and wheelchairs for children in need. This lot was collected in about two weeks thanks to donations from near and far after people read an article on the project in The Citizen. * Wooden Chair Auction at the Blyth Legion upstairs Wednesday, April 9 7:30 p.m. sharp Everyone welcome Help protect the environment Reduce, reuse and recycle 1 pizza slice 1 can of pop $099 4Ka -l- tax at Blyth General Store 523-9785 Lauretta's Hug & 1/2 is Coming to Blyth Saturday, April 12,1997 for the Women's Day Out Fashion Show You don’t want to miss it!
