Madill Mirror
Renovations continue at F.E. Madill SS
By Wayne Tessier
Madill Principal
The construction at Madill
continues. The science labs are well
underway and should be completed
around May 1.
Students and teachers arc excited
about the opportunity to use the
new labs. A contract to renovate
the library has been let. The library
will remain in the same location.
The renovations will include new
environmental systems, upgrading
the ability to use new computer and
communication systems and some
changes to the decor.
The library, after renovations,
will meet the needs of the students
well into the next century.
It is expected that renovations
will begin after the March break
and will be completed before
classes begin in September.
In 1991, the provincial and
territorial ministers of education as
the Council of Ministers of
Education, agreed to undertake the
School Achievement Indicators
Program. Ontario continues to
participate in the program with the
assessment of mathematics
knowledge and skills of 13-year-
old and 16-year-old students.
Madill has been selected to be
part of the provincial sample for the
upcoming mathematics assessment.
A sample of students in our school
who were 16 years old by Aug. 31,
1996, (bom between Sept. 1, 1979
and August 31, 1980) will
participate in the assessment.
The assessment has two separate
components: a mathematics content
component and a problem solving
component. Prior to testing, the

CDCS students are looking
forward to the March break. This
year’s break will be from March 10

On behalf of all the students and
staff at CDCS Mr. Bos offered a
wish that everyone might have a
wonderful March break and a
meaningful Easter. He suggested
that anyone interested in joining the
students for an Easter program
would be invited to the school on
March 27. "We welcome everyone
to experience the real meaning of
Easter by joining us in an Easter

Presently, the kiln is in the midst
of being set up in one of the
technical education classes. This
room will be one-third technology

In this classroom the students will
perform their written seat work,
along with any non-toxic art

The excellent reputation of this company is due to the combination of providing
quality products, prompt courteous service, and knowledgeable people. CHISHOLM
FUELS LIMITED, capably guided by GRANT CHISHOLM is providing the people of
the area with a fine water conditioning service from ECOWATER SYSTEMS. With
over 65 years in business, ECOWATER is the largest manufacturer of residential
water treatment systems .
Water conditioning does make a big difference to your domestic life. First it softens
and then conditions the water, making it more economical, efficient and pleasant for
everyday use. Regardless of where your water supply comes from, it is virtually never
entirely soft and pure without conditioning or softening services. Being a dissolvent,
water picks up impurities such as limestone, magnesium, calcium and iron. These
and other sources give you water that is cloudy and usually with an unpleasant taste.
Problem water costs money in soap and also does damage to water heaters and
plumbing.
CHISHOLM FUELS LIMITED, specialize in ECOWATER SYSTEMS, free water
analysis, sales and services of conditioners, filters, softeners for residential and
commercial, plus reverse osmosis drinking water systems and solves problems of
rust-iron or sulphur bacteria odour.
This firm stands behind their guarantees and always provides excellent after-the-sale
service. When it comes to the best in service, rentals and sales of water treatment
systems in the area, look no further than ECOWATER SYSTEMS at CHISHOLM
