Madill SS By Wayne Tessier Madill Principal The construction at Madill continues. The science labs are well underway and should be completed around May 1. Students and teachers arc excited about the opportunity to use the new labs. A contract to renovate the library has been let. The library will remain in the same location. The renovations will include new environmental systems, upgrading the ability to use new computer and communication systems and some changes to the decor. The library, after renovations, will meet the needs of the students well into the next century. It is expected that renovations will begin after the March break and will be completed before classes begin in September. In 1991, the provincial and territorial ministers of education as the Council of Ministers of Education, agreed to undertake the School Achievement Indicators Program. Ontario continues to participate in the program with the assessment of mathematics knowledge and skills of 13-year- old and 16-year-old students. Madill has been selected to be part of the provincial sample for the upcoming mathematics assessment. A sample of students in our school who were 16 years old by Aug. 31, 1996, (bom between Sept. 1, 1979 and August 31, 1980) will participate in the assessment. The assessment has two separate components: a mathematics content component and a problem solving component. Starting next week, students will begin another fundraiser for the Right now if you looked where the art room used to be, you would find a vacant room. Janelle VanderVeen was a little surprised to discover she was being watched, so intent was she on the game she was playing at the Blyth Christian Reformed Church Bazaar last week. Last weekend CDCS graduates, who are attending London District Christian Secondary Schools presented the last show of the musical Oliver. CDCS students are looking forward to the March break. This year’s break will be from March 10 to March 19. On behalf of all the students and staff at CDCS Mr. Bos offered a wish that everyone might have a wonderful March break and a meaningful Easter. He suggested that anyone interested in joining the students for an Easter program would be invited to the school on March 27.
