Patrick's Curling Club plans banquet 3910II12131415161 Sliding by The Bothwell goalie can't stop this one in time as the Blyth Bantam drives one by in the exciting first game of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association semi-final playoffs on Friday in Blyth. After being edged 5-4 in overtime, Blyth lost a big one on Sunday giving their opponents a two game edge in the best of five series. Play continued Monday night in Blyth with the home team desperately needing a win. Winners of the February curling draw arc: Mixed - first, 50 points, Skip Tom WarwicK, Fran Bremner, Wayne Alexander, Nora Stephen­ son; second, 43.5 points, Skip Jeff Lewinglon, Valerie Shortreed, John Gillis, Steve Bowles; third, 34 points, Skip Steve Steiss, Heather Blake, Dave Lewinglon, Madelene Steiss. Ladies' February draw winners are: first, 38.5 points, Skip JoAnn McDonald, Kathy Huethcr, Brenda Linton, Yvonne Dcttweiler; second, Perrie has stellar season Marquette University freshman Lori Perrie of Brussels had a stellar indoor season for the Golden Eagles track and field team. Perrie set Marquette freshman records in the shot put and the 20- pound weight throw. She tossed the shot put 44-6 1/4, breaking the old record of 42-11 3/4 set by Lynn Klipslinc in 1990. She threw the 20-pound weight 43-3, breaking the 35 points, Skip Fran Bremner, Jean Bewley, Heidi McClure, Norma Cooper; third, 31.5 points, Skip Jane Zwcp, Azetta Gibbons, Marie Stute, Lynn Logue; fourth, 31 points, Skip Nora Stephenson. Mary Ann Bone, Sharon Brown, Amanda Brown; fifth, Skip Velma Locking, Sheron Stadelmann. Gloria Wiibce, Pauline Kerkhof: sixth, Skip Valerie Shortreed, Doris Fischer, Sue Backhaus, Lauric Procter. The year end meeting and pot luck dinner is March 28 at 6:30 p.m. old record of 38- 1/4, set by Cindy Wehrman in 1996. Perrie will return to action on March 22 at the Wheaton Open, the outdoor season opener. BRUSSELS MINOR HOCKEY Totiud^Supper Sunday, March 23rd at 5:30 p.m. BMG Arena (Bring 1 main course, 1 dessert, plus plates & utensils) The Blyth Bantams met Bothwell in the OMHA semin-final this past weekend and have finished down by two. The series opened Friday night in Blyth. Bothwell scored the lone goal of the first period, and then scored early in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Blyth got one back with 10 minutes remaining, in the second, then added two more within 30 seconds late in the period to take a 3-2 lead. Bothwell bounced back in the third scoring twice to take the lead again. Blyth scored with six minutes remaining to tie the game and send it into overtime. Bothwell ended the game, scoring four minutes into overtime to win 5-4. Tyler Stewart scored twice for Blyth with singles going to Derek Cook and Kyle Anderson. Assists Legion crib team moves on A four-man cribbage team from the Brussels Legion represented the area well in a recent tournament in Iroquois. The team of Les Brewer, Gordon Nichol, Allan Nichol and Allan's son, Murray, of Toronto, won the Legion Provincial Cribbage compe­ tition. They will now travel to Van­ couver on the May 24 weekend to challenge for the Dominion Com­ mand title. Gordon Nichol said they played 18 games through the tournament then the two players with the most wins counted for the championship. The Vancouver competition will be slightly different, he said, with doubles and singles play from members of the same team. were picked by Dave Ansley, Bryce Toll, Jamie Black, and Adam Anderson. Game two was played Sunday afternoon in Bothwell. Blyth never really got into this one, losing 6-2. Bothwell went ahead 3-0 early in the second period but Blyth did manage to score twice to make it close. The comeback was short­ lived as Bothwell got those two back before the period ended. Bothwell scored the lone third- period goal to coast to the victory. Craig Marks scored both Blyth goals with Toll adding two assists.
